Fished the same river as you Wayne with braid for the last 3 seasons with no problems, running rig, combi hook link and as Jon says leader a must gets my vote.
Nice one Howard you made me chuckle:D,yes i've been there always found earning those brownie points does the trick, you've got to keep them sweet or the other option is grow some balls & pay the consequencies.
Don't have a problem now as i work shifts plenty of time off in the week when the...
Agree with most of the above a simple run rig does the trick & use as light a lead as i can get away with but on the tidal trent sometimes 6oz is the minium required to hold bottom.
Then again it all depends on swim choice flooded or not.
I'm with Graham on this one shame the picture isn't of a better quality, don't like to see any fish thrust closer to the camera but really hope it is a genuine capture, its certainly a big Barbel well done to the captor.
Jon
I wouldn't bother with source on the TT i've been through a bag in the last year, caught plenty of Chub but never had a Barbel on them but did manage to catch a 20lb Mirror on my last Boilie:).
Mainly fish pellet but had a few this year on Chocolate malt & tiger nut.
Tried tuna several times this summer but tended to get Breamed out with the odd barbel mixed in,but know people who swear by it.give it a try Wayne it might work for you.
Also looking forward too the first big flood can't beat it when there's 12ft on and the rivers chocolate coloured, tramming through & spilling onto the 2nd flood bank, one of my favourite conditions seems a long time since the last flood on the TT,the low & clear conditions are getting very...
What's your next goal Wayne,a 12lber,15lber or just to beat your pb.
Remember enjoy your fishing & good luck on your quest there's always next season if it doesn't happen this winter.
Couldn't have put it any better Lee,Wayne i admire your enthusiasm but it won't be easy if we have a winter like the last two,can only remember one short mild spell last winter, happy hunting and hope you get that big girl your after.
Darren tried the Raptor D-7's today you wasn't wrong, had to change the hook twice due to the hook point turning over, thought the curved point would help won't be buying anymore of those.
