The Carp Chronicles podcast is worth a listen to anyone contemplating making there own baits/base mixes from scratch.
Lee Fletcher, years ago on here, put some base mixes to try that I made up and put to good effect on the Dove at the time.
The only thing I do when I make hookbait mixes up is I...
I like the John Timmerman "Drive and Survive" vlogs and any of the Kevin Ellis ones, comes across as a highly likeable chap. Both Carp fishing but interesting stuff.
I have bought CAT since the first one came out and have subscibed to it for a long time so feel I am well placed to say that this month's issue is the worst one since the magazines inception although the downward spiral has been going on for a while now
The articles are absolutely awful there...
I have replaced my Scarpa boots with some Diotto hunting boots.
After having North Face, Berghaus and the above Scarpa's the new boots are the best I have had.
Use them every day for walking the dog's and totally waterproof and comfortable.
Only downside is the price but well worth the...
If you are looking to buy anything from Aqua the following may be of interest.
Apparently the quality of Aqua products has been a topic of discussion on a number of forums lately and this is taken from another forum.
I have a few Aqua products myself including a bivvy and never had a...
If not fishing any distance a normal stick float will be fine. If you need to cast out any distance a stick float with a lignum base will cast a bit better.
If a swim is a bit turbulent a wire stemmed stick can be utilised.
If a swim is slow paced I work on the principle of a No 6 shot per...
If using a shotting pattern where you want a bulk shot try substituting the bulk shot for a single pole float olivetti weight, much more streamlined than a few bulk shot and easier to move up and down the line as required!!

Just got back after getting absolutely soaked to the skin packing up this morn.
Managed three Barbel to 9lb so not bad considering how much time I fished for, had a good afternoon in the pub on Saturday!!
Cheers to Chris for organising the weekend and also to the lads who cooked the food...
In my experience, and anglers are probably the worst for it, people love to put there names down for anything but when push comes to shove and monies or help for something is required "something else" or some other **** pot excuse is usually trundled out!!
You always get the same faces...
I'm like Darren,
Not wet a line since I got back from Carp fishing in Canada in May, not sure why but I just can't motivate myself to go!!
Saying that I'm off to the fish in at Fiskerton at the end of the month and really looking forward to that, the gear will have to be sorted and...
"Somewhere Down The Crazy River" is my personal favourite, especially the Goliath Tigerfish chapters followed a close second by "Globetrotters Quest" which has probably the best angling photography you will see in a book!!

Rather than use a hair rig, before you go fishing just glue your pellets at regular intervals along an elastic band.
Once on the bank just cut the elastic band and put your hook through it.
No messing with glue, hairstops or anything like that, and costs nothing!!
All sizes and any number of...
I haven't specifically done any trotting for Barbel although I have caught them when fishing for silvers using my Normark Titan.
I consider 13ft a minimum length for a rod used for trotting and actually prefer one longer than that for the float control it gives you!!
