Tame record soon to be broken?

Just noticed the date of the Tame record on the River Records page. If I can find out which stretch it is, I'll go down there on the 14th and watch him catch it :D:D

    Bleak

I was disappointed to see that there is no thread for that noble fish of the rivers, the Bleak. So here it is, the BFW bleak thread. :) I had a very enjoyable few hours trotting for the little chaps on the River Severn at the weekend. One of them was not so little and is definitely a new PB...

What kind of duck is this?

I had these ducks in my swim on the Severn the other night. It's not one I'm familiar with — any ideas? One of them looked like it was probably the mother. The stripe on its head was stronger than it appears in the photos, the camera doesn't seem to have caught it well.

Fox Adjusta Level Chair — it's back!

Fox has relaunched this classic river angler's chair and I've just bought one. So far I'm impressed. It's been considerably redeveloped over the previous version, but whether that's a good thing depends on the angler. The biggest improvement in my opinion is that the angle of the front legs...

Line deterioration on Berkley Big Game

Having been broken twice recently above the lead, I spent some time at the weekend checking the line with an old spring balance. I'm using Big Game Clear in 10lb and a piece of unused line fresh from the original bulk spool broke at over 12lbs — about as expected from reports elsewhere...

    Any Gardner Roving Sling owners...

Can anyone tell me if it has a handle as well as a strap, as the photos aren't clear? I like the look of the sling, but if I'm using my Korum Ruckbag, I carry my sling in my hand, hence the need for a handle.

    Wanted: Korum Deluxe chair

I'm looking for a Korum Deluxe accessory chair (not the standard one or the lightweight one). I don't mind if it's dirty or even a bit tatty as long as it's still works okay and is comfy. I'm in Wolverhampton.

    Trotting for Chub

Yesterday I had a change from my usual fishing, and had a first go at trotting for chub on the Teme. I haven't had my pin for very long and this is the first time I've done any trotting ... and I blanked big time :( This stretch seems to have plenty of chub, and as this is my first go, I...

    Berkley Big Game line

I've bought a bulk spool of Berkley Big Game from Ebay in 10lb clear with the intention of respooling more often. I came to spool up last night and was surprised how thick and stiff it was compared to my usual Ultima Power Plus. It also seems more visible and "white" than the Ultima. I'm just...

    Muck Boots

With my last pair of wellies wearing out in a season and getting a walking boot full of water on session, I've decided it's time in invest in some Muck Boots. But which to buy? For example, there's the Tweed at £47, the Derwent at £49, the Esk at £60, the Tay at £62 and the Tay Sport at...

    Ebay madness

Has anyone noticed the absurd prices that fishing tackle seems to be fetching on Ebay recently? For example, I've been looking to find a partner for my trusted but lonely Korum Neoteric Twin Tip. One came up this week on fleabay, second-hand but unused. I decided that I would bid high to try to...

    Portable Radio

No, this isn't a wind-up! ;) I have a small radio for listening to quietly when I'm fishing and the footie's on. But it's rubbish, I can only get reception when I'm standing on one hand, with the radio clasped between my third and fourth toes and whistling Rule Britannia. Anything else and I...
