Being a bit old fashioned I'm looking for one of these having been rather confused by the plethora of current spinning reels which all seem to come from the same factory in China! Not bothered by a faded spool or a few marks as long as it functions well. If you have something suitable please...
I've had this for several years but it's only had a handful of outings.
In excellent condition, one little chip in the finish on the foot. Photos show condition of finish.
Spins very well with no wobble.
Would make a nice trotting reel for grayling, roach, chub or of course a barbel or two.
I...
Realised I’m not going to be putting in long hours piking again so these won’t be getting any use. Must be 40 years old now, were very highly thought of back then & still up to the job throwing half mackerel a long way.
Black glass, 11ft, Fuji’s, full cork with FPS reel seats. 2 3/4lb t.c. I...
This is a lovely rod with a relaxed `bamboo action` from a good maker.
It’s in sound condition but would benefit from being spruced up – the whippings are sound but have faded from purple to greyish & the varnish has some nicks in it, mostly on the butt section. The wooden reel seat needs a rub...
Hoping there might be one in your attic - glass `particle carp` or `carp` - wouldn't mind if it's scruffy as long as it's useable. If you might help please send a message, Many thanks, Julian
Hopefully of interest to a glass rod enthusiast on here :
It may be an early rod & a `special order` with the graphics on the butt.
I’ve decided to put it up for sale due to lack of use & it seems a shame it isn’t being enjoyed by someone who would appreciate it.
I’ve added some extra photos...
A very versatile & beautifully finished rod which was ~ £200+ 20 years ago.
An old review here: https://www.fishingmagic.com/the-shimano-antares-specialist-rod/
Approx 1lb 6oz t.c.
If you fish smaller rivers it would be a first class rod for your barbel, either with the quiver top or as an...
In excellent condition & a lovely light rod for chub perch or smaller barbel.
A classic Avon through action.
I only have one put over quiver top for it, approx 1 ½ oz as best I can judge.
I would prefer collection from Ripon North Yorks, as the best courier price I can find these days is...
Lovely Simpsons rod, I've used it for chub a few times over the years, had barbel up to 7lb on it & it's been up to the job. Test curve just about 1.25lb as far as I recall, threaded tip - I have swapped from float to leger with it as well. Action is well down the lower section when under...
Very useful as a chub rod, probably not pokey enough for serious barbel fishing.
Lovely action & the lighter`2` & `3` tips are ideal for stillwater - seems to be a favourite with bream anglers & the rod will handle carp up to doubles Ok in open water.
A review from when the rods were released...
Hardly used & a useful tool for when the Swale or Wharfe is pushing through with extra water, or for bigger rivers.
2 quiver tips, 4oz & 6 oz.
All rings & whippings perfect.
Avon top never used.
Original bag.
Collection from Ripon only please.
£65
I bought this ages ago & it's had hardly any use - the carp spot never came to fruition. I did wonder if it would suit heavy water barbel fishing for some of you on here. My local rivers don't need such a powerful rod. Ref no is ANT12275FA. I have the original bag for it. I'm at a loss to pick a...
Hope it's OK to post on this forum - looks interesting & starts with a look up North, focussing on the Wharfe I believe. https://www.bbc.com/mediacentre/proginfo/2023/10/paul-whitehouse-our-troubled-rivers
Spotted these this morning & they look just the job for travelling light - https://www.aldi.co.uk/crane-fishing-holdall/p/811973605867000#product-reviews
Have had very few days out over the year & was hoping to get out today but the weather is really foul so stuck at home.
To do something fishy thought I’d ask here for any opinions / advice:
On my last 2 visits to the Ure I’ve struck into a fairly tentative `chub` bite, feel resisstance & a...
Can anyone help with selling me their old net & arms - would prefer something with a fairly open mesh.
Not bothered about a few `extra` holes!
Fibreglass or carbon OK.
I have a strong spreader block so don't really need one with the arms.
If you have something & can post please let me know...
Picked up a couple of these & it might be useful for spicing up meat - £1.49. It's tucked away in the middle bit somewhere as I don't think it's a regular line. Haven't dared taste it yet ....
