Just a thought .....Abrasion resistance is directly proportional to the diameter of any given line (the thicker, the better/tougher). Combine that fact (and it is a fact) with another fact that, thin lines tend to stretch less than thin lines, then I reckon that you have to realistically weight...

For me, how the rod is 'balanced' by the reel is only a really important factor when using that rod to float fish a river. Yes, if you're float fishing a river, holding the rod for hours and continuously casting, then reel/rod balance is a very important factor. But if the rod is spending 98%+...

As far as 'line ratings' go, I'm more than happy to go higher (a lot higher), but I won't go lower. How often do anglers break a rod playing a fish rather than breaking a line. In the words of Aimee Allen "If it feels right, then just do it" 😉

There you go Rich, I've found a market for you. The cheapest tri-adaptor I can find now is almost £70 (inc postage from Germany) and in "used" condition. You could "bodge" some out on the lathe, aluminium and S/S, and flog them for at least £25 a pop. What's not to like eh 😂
