    Fraser River Sturgeon

I enjoyed the liquid refreshment on offer in Key West, but all the tarpon fishing was with John Rawle from Islamorada. The biggest one I got to the boat was 'only' a ton too, but I lost some clonkers. Had 12 bites for 3 fish, and my boat partner had 7 bites for 4 fish over our three trips. His...

    Fraser River Sturgeon

Whilst we're on the subject of foreign fishing, don't forget the Florida Keys. Got back from 2 weeks there yesterday, which included 2 shark and 3 tarpon trips. Words cannot describe how powerful a ton up tarpon is, or how impressive a 13 stone, 7 foot long fish looks when it's suspended upside...

    Do Barbel Thrive on Neglect?

I'm pretty sure that there was one small grou of barbel, with a couple on monsters present, in that stretch awat from the Mill. As far as i'm aware these never originated from Adam's Mill. However Alex, these are only my thoughts and they have been formed by talking to other people, so i may...

    Do Barbel Thrive on Neglect?

I agree, interesting queastion. The barbel in Adam's Mill didn't do too bad, and they got a fair amount of pressure. However, a stretch only a couple of miles away saw literally no pressure, then turned up a 19-6 to someone fishing for perch with lobworms. So who knows??!!

    TF Gear bankboss ultralight chair

I have a chub lo lite, which doesn't have any arms. However, i know there is a version available that does have them. Also, i'm sure that the Korum chair accessories will fit any chair, not just theirs. Have a look on their website to check though!! Thanks, Tim

    Best net for barbel

Hi, The arms of my abu net snapped whilst netting a fish. Great design, but the product was not robust enough for my barbelling. I've got a round 30" wychwood net now and so far it's doing well...

    Fishing in Crete?

Hi Chris, Whilst not Crete, a few years ago i went to Ibiza with my mates. I took a little travel rod with me, and float fished bread in the harbour. I caught a few nice bream. I then tried whitebait, and got bitten off twice by something that took me to school. Have fun! Tim

    Which Landing Net

After my Abu Garcia folding spoon net snapped at the spreader block last season, i've bought myself a big (30 or 32") Wychwood pike / boat net. Only used it a few times so far, but looks good to date.

    Landing net

I had the Abu net for less than a season. Seemed great to start with, but the metal in the arms snapped at the spreader block. Shame, as it was a good concept

    Zander

Gents, As you know Simon, predatory carp feed at around 2334 at night! On the zed front though, I always try my best to get out as soon as I can after woek, which usually involves me arriving at around half seven. As the days get longer, this means i fish for a little while in daylight. All...

Tales of hooking oneself - tips & precautions?

Being a ham fisted so and so, i always have a mini first aid kit in the bag and a big one in the car. The worst two experiences i had were as follows; In second place was a surprisingly small size 16 which went in, but kept going in further instead of having the point combe back out. Much...

    Sturgeon - UK

Alright folks, I'd love to catch a sturgeon from the Fraser or St Lawrence, but money and time don't allow this at the moment. So, does anyone know a lake near Bedford where I could have a crack at one? Cheers, Tim

    Lake weed "harrowing" to remove

Hi Folks, A bit more detail. When this has been carried out on ther lakes in the past the whole lake has been treated in one go. The advise from the RYA is to start in February and carry out a raking every 6 weeks. Historically the lake was very weedy, but has been treated for several years...
