Steve.

I love your picture Steve :).

Perch rod pin ,so much better for me than seeing someone holding the fish.

Paul.

Hi Chaps , just thought Id say hello. As a good honest tryer of perch i generally venture to the buckingham water on the great Ouse once or twice a year, are there any guys down that area could give me a general opinion of the state of the river for future trips. im a good 120 miles away here in Barnsley and it would be a long haul for an out of sorts river

White Springs

Has anyone fished the above down nr swansea. I have been thinking of paying the place a visit after the perch. Wondered if anyone had any experience of the place. I assume it can get quite busy? May give it a couple of days towards the end of the month.:)

Paul

Hi paul , my self and kev c have fished it a few times last time we fished we tried using live baits that we caught in the perch lake , little bits roach , rudd etc , the owner came over all shouting and reckoned we could not fish this method , we pointed out that Ian Welch was down there a few weeks previous fishing that exact method for one of the mags , he says thats different he had special permission to do a feature , i told the owner it was faulse advertising etc , we ended up fishing worm popped up , it worked quite well we had a kew fish to over 2lb but we have seen much bigger come out , they are usually under your feet , take a look at Kevin clarks gallery there are a few pics in there , good luck.

Cracking perch and a beautiful photo , well done.

Paul Iv fished there a couple of times for the Perch, caught 2lb+ fish each time. The pond with the Perch in is a small match lake its not the nicest of venues to be honest(iv never seen it in summer though), I doubt that it will be very busy at this time of year, probally have the pond to yourself on a week day, i usually fish with worm and prawns over sprayed maggot but the prawn has always outfished the worm, I'l be having another day soon down there myself

Thanks a lot guys, sounds like its worth a trip. Got week off 22 Feb, so may go down for a few days as i seriously need some chill time and would love to catch a decent perch or two from the place. Did you stay overnight in the accomodation on site or just do days?

Thanks again. :)

Paul

Sorry Mark, forgot to say, thats a cracking fish mate.

Even good anglers struggle sometimes Mark but as long as I learn a thing or two while blanking im not that bothered.:)

their are some cracking perch to be caught and they are their in numbers. Feed lightly though as the carp will be a nusance.

Had a day out today and managed 2 perch to 2lb.11 and about 30 roach to 1lb.6oz.

It as nice to get a few bites!

Nice one Graham, nice to know somethings feeding!

I'm going to pick up some of the fox avon rods and have a bit more of a concerted effort for perch in the last two weeks of the season. Still never had a 2lber.

Stick or twist?

I'm off to the Ouse on Tuesday after a stripey or two. Obviously conditions will dictate tactics to a large extent, but I was wondering whether people generaly prefer a roaving approach or more of a sit, feed and wait style of fishing when after big perch?

I've done a couple of barbel sessions in the last couple of months when there's been slight weather improvements. I really wish i'd left the barbel gear at home and had a go for the Perch. Will definitely be having a bash before the season is out though. Some great pics earlier in this thread. Enjoy your week off Paul...

I noted Keith Arthur say the Thames did a 5lb 2oz fish in the week... HUGE specimen.

According to a report on another forum the guy not only had the 5-02, but also had fish of 4.08, 4.05 , 4.02 , 3.13 and 3.02
