Nice clean looking fish Andy, well done.

The 6lber is a genuine fish from the cotswold water park. I heard about it a few days before it broke from a very reliable source and have fished and do still fish the pits where it came from, although only recently for the perch. The pics unfortunately arent that good, so i suppose it's all in the hands of the BRFC as to whether it will be accepted.

I've discovered the pics on the Berkley web site - News & Events

Stars are Stripes by Paul Hiom

When reflecting over childhood dreams
Of endless days sat by the stream
There is one fish that springs to mind
That brings a smile to fisher kind

A cocky fish all full of fight
So confident and colors bright
His stripes displayed like sergeant major
Fins so red and full of anger

I see him chasing all and sundry
Bullying and starting fights
Rallying the boys to plunder
Little fishies dart in fright

Such fun it is to see him plotting
All non’chalant until it’s time
Then with a flash he’s off a charging
Mohican dorsal raised in mime

I flick a worm into his battle
Watching as it sinks to ground
And with such speed it disappears
The float in hot pursuit, no sound

And for one moment in my palm
A spikey treat to truly gaze
The hook removed with gentle care
My special fish returned un-tamed

Hope you like

Paul

Hi men,

First trip today. Short 2 hour session, and went through a dozen lobs !!!. Bloody crays were very active, and mashed them, even got 4 to the bank ! . Had a couple around a pound, and a small one , they just had trouble getting to the worms first. River Ouse? , crayfish soup !.

apparently some groundbait mixed with "Iron Bru" pop ,is doing well ,the crays don't like the iron bru but perch do ! ,its worth a try ,use fishmeal based g/b and use the iron bru instead of water to mix it with .throw balls of g/b in ,in a circle and cast your worm into this zone .

Well I had a roach session on the Upper Kennet on Tuesday which changed to a perching session after I suspected a shoal of stripeys were residing under some far bank foliage in the swim I was in fruitlessly waiting for a redfin. I didn't have all my perching gear on me but amended my terminal tackle and grabbed some lobs, luckily in the car, and had an interesting afternoon. Unfortunately I got broken by I suspect a very big perch on my light roaching set up, but managed eventually 3 perch at 2.10, 2.06 and a scraper 2 whilst pulling out of one.

There's nothing quite like a clear water perch, the colours were beautiful, but I'll be back for the monster that smashed me up, and won't be using 2lb line this time!

Perch - Thames car parking

Hello chaps

Bit of a long shot, but wondering if you can help?

I am about to begin a bit of a perching campaign over the winter focusing on the Thames. I am planning on lots of walking and using watercraft as best I can to find swims so I'm not asking for any pointers to swims or stretches.

But I would appreciate any help folk can provide with car parking. Do any of you have postcodes you punch into the sat navs to get to decent car parking spots close by the the river?

I'm thinking of the following: Hampton, Sunbury and Teddington.

All the best
David

My god i'm getting as bad as the BridgEnorth secret wormer Scuba Steve, just been and collected 200 lobs lol.

Had a nice couple of hours this afternoon hanging worms beneath the float; biggest stripey a tad over a pound and a half, but really enjoyed myself. :)
