Flooding and drought?

Here We Go!....Bit quicker than i thought!

Oh Dear! Increase water bills, says Lords ;)
Government must allow the cost of water to increase and act faster than the Water White Paper suggests - if the UK is to protect its dwindling water resources.
Raising the cost of water bills is also needed, it argues, to tackle water scarcity where other measures have failed.

Six weeks ago Thames water was saying we would need 'weeks of heavy rain' to fix this drought. A couple of days ago I heard it would now take six months of higher than average rainfall. Talk about moving the goalposts. They are building a case to increase water charges and it will happen, even if Noah comes floating over your house in a few weeks time.

cheers

Water Scandal!

So what they are saying? Is it that 'water metering' is making no difference and is part of the failure in all this...or more to the monetary profiteering point...We are making no money with water meters installed and will lose £6.25 Billion a year minimum when all the water meters are fitted in every household and business throughout the UK in 2022-2025, giving all our would be income/profits back to the customer when using less water! That is business suicide for all profit seeking privatised water companies!
We can't have that then Lords and Ladies, so put up the prices now while the drought orders are still in effect, before we get sussed and drown in the deluge of excess water!
Can't believe they are trying to push all the blame onto the UK public and not the Water Companies themselves! There again maybe you just can in foresight.:)

Chris...Watched the SW version so it might have been a little different. I see the point of the EA and water companies trying to move the goalposts once again though, which has always been is a common tactic to deceive the public. Just hope everyone cottons on faster than to what they have done in the past!:)

I had a drive round lake Vyrnwy yesterday, it's full to the brim and has been running over the top for a week, looks like Liverpool is going to be ok.

Just been watching BBC Midlands Today and the Environment Agency have announced this morning that the drought is officially over in the Midlands :)

Just crossed the Ouse and wharfe they have both burst and it's actually flowing in to the fields no drought up here :)

The severn was within inches of bursting the bank in Shrewsbury town centre today on a rare visit to the town. It looks great - milky tea gliding through nicely.

cheers

It was sussed long ago Ray. But keeping "in favour" with the Government is the highest priority of all. From Media to overpaid Quango attendees, to Scientists employed by the state to the Rich list.

See you the 30th.

Graham

Yeah!..Won't be long now till they get rid of the excess river water to the sea and put us all back on 'Drought Orders' again...for their own monetory and profit making interests; at the expense of killing off the the UK streams and river systems together with the wildlife, fish wildfowl and natural habitat etc!

The rantings of Chris Booker! More paranoid conspiracy theories. Global warming, it's all made up by Zionist scientists. Anything Booker says should be treated with great suspicion in my mind.
His arguments boil down to..
Lets carry on as ever, use up all the worlds resources as fast as possible and flood every bit of ground we have to build more reservoirs so we can keep building more and more houses, offices and supermarkets.
Some also would add...
Whilst we are at it, nationalise the water companies so the taxpayer can pay even more to subsidise all of this as we presently subsidise the banks and finance companies who benefit most from this over dependence on building for economic growth. Spain has gone for this in a big way...as anyone who has driven through the empty estates of new builds will tell you.

Or we could make those who use the resources, whether it be C02, water or whatever pay for the privilege and not be subsidised by the taxpayer.

You're flippin' bonkers!
