Dying on it's backside.

I have been away with my job for a few days. I was winding up for a rant on this thread but Dave has said it all really.
Ade is a very good friend of mine so right or wrong, I will back him right or wrong but this time I believe he is right and a private agenda is being perused here. I am off to lurker land for now at least.

If the mods want to ban someone then that is fine by me. They run the show and do a pretty god job of it as far as I can see. However if they are going to ban someone then the very least that should happen, to be transparent, is to publish exactly WHY they are banning someone. In the case of Ade Williams I have not seen anything he has posted that warranted a ban.

The fact he highlighted the fact that a certain elevated individual in the Barbel world was blogging that he was using rigs, that are universally condemned as being dangerous to Barbel on this forum, seems significant to me. Or was it just a coincidence that he was banned shortly after.

Bring back Ade I say.

OK - that is the rules but which one of these rules does Ade's post contravene? I mean to a level that is worse than what has been posted by other members before? I'm not trying to stoke an argument at all but merely interested as Ade is a good bloke and a mate and i believe his post was genuine.

As others have said Ade has a wealth of angling knowledge and has provided no end of information and insight over the years i have been looking in on this site? Yes his opinions can sometimes not be to the pleasing of others but surely that is what makes a forum interesting with lively debate?

He was vilified on a few forums due to someone misinterpreting one of his posts incorrectly a few months back yet he still chooses to come back to those same forums and offers his advice and input where others would have never have returned.

Steve.
Can you point me to this please, can't find it...or was it facebook thingy.

The fact he highlighted the fact that a certain elevated individual in the Barbel world was blogging that he was using rigs, that are universally condemned as being dangerous to Barbel on this forum, seems significant to me.

Thanks

Graham, can't be certain, but this may be a reference to Ade's comments in relation to Steve Pope and the use of PP braid as a hook length?

No idea Graham, and to be honest I've just about had enough ....

Sick of ex mates who are happy to stab you in the back because you don't want to be in their gang any more...

****** to the lot of it.....

I have never been a moderator on a forum and to be honest wouldn't want to be, its such a thankless task where you cant do right for everyone. I along with most I would think on here have no idea why AW has been banned but I am sure that the decision wasn't taken lightly and that there must be a sound reason for it, the mods/site owner are under no obligation to give an explanation to anyone, its a decision that has been taken for whatever reason by the mods/site owner and as such has to be accepted if anyone wants to carry on using this forum.

my personal veiw of the situation concerned is
1, if Andy and the team ban someone i have no doubt theres sound reason for them too, half the incidents in the world theres info not given out for sensible reasons!
adrian helped me with info a few times via messages but i accept fact there maybe a bit more going on that a lot of guys including me dont know, thats why theres a team to protect both bfw and ourselves and that is how and why we have a team of mods ect,
why all the hue and cry? trust your bfw team

Mr Gauntlett
I too find this very troubling, always found Ade to be a sound judge and happy to share information.
I would prefer that he were not banned!
As always I am available on PM if needs be!

That's about it John, onwards and upwards:)

I've just read Ada's original post again and it unnecessarily defamatory to BFW and it's mods, I think he could have made his point in a more collaborative manner. shame to see him banned but the tone of his message suggested he had lost interest anyway.

Just tried colouring mine. It's harder than you think. It's terribly precarious perching yourself on a couple of tins of paint and trying to submerge each buttock cheek. My left one became hopelessly lodged beneath the lip of the bloody thing leaving me stranded in the middle of the shed. I raised the alarm and thankfully within minutes I heard friendly footsteps at the shed door. It was only when the face of my mother in law came horribly into view that I felt a wave of nausea drench me.

She quickly turned away muttering something like "he really shouldn't be doing that sort of thing at his age". In a strange twist, my father in law joined me, although as he was removing his trousers and undergarments I wasn't entirely certain that was his intention. Deliverance is one of his favourite films.

Anyway, all ended happily and we had a nice cup of tea.

The lights are on but no ones home.

Dear All,

I hardly ever go on angling forums any more. Why is that? In truth I think its because their content is not as inspiring or indeed as interesting as they were in the days when they first started. And believe me, like many who once posted on here a lot, I've been around the fishing forum scene since it first began.

Personally, I think the forum rooms has been swept too clean in that its become very difficult to air ones views or take on issues like we used to. OK fair enough the site owners "do" have a legal responsibility to make sure that the written words are typed within the boundaries of whats acceptable both within the law and of course to other members.

Almost all of the internet forums have lost participant numbers and this is certainly not restricted to angling ones. Like it or not the social networking sites have taken over where the forums left off.

Regards,

Lee.

Take on issues?
The forum might have been swept clean but that's only dissuaded those with the inclination or lack of intelligence to spout turd. All the bloody pseudonyms, one after the other, all mates, looking to BFW to vent their spleens.

Hi men,

Just for interest I took the top dozen threads on the main page ( that's what was showing on my phone screen ) . The views on those subjects came to over 20,000 , somebody is watching you :D.

Ade,
you want something to discuss.
Here is one of my rare posts these days (on the Tidal Trent forum):

The Barbel have not been the only things going mad: or should that be just crazy!
From Ashfield site
Recent Incident at Cromwell
It was reported to the committee on Saturday evening that anglers on the Collingham bank were firing air rifle pellets across the river towards Ashfield anglers.
Collingham Anglers chairman Mr Malcolm Nicholson was informed of this serious incident and was told that in future anglers will report matters to the police.

Discuss!
