Congratulations................

Lots of Townie reactions here. Bless 'em.

Anyone reacting with indignation at the mere mention of the word 'Townie' is a Townie!

Like Adrian says, it is an attitude thing. Get over yourselves Townies you love the countryside but just arent it!

Well, it's with a modicum of regret that I felt the need to comment on Adrian's now infamous 'townie' comment. However I did and the only conclusion to be drawn on some of the subsequent posts is that many anglers should stick to angling, and leave the social commentary to those who know what they're talking about.

There's no need for abusive or vitriolic posts on public forums. Though I guess it's the only place some have the courage to do so. I'm sure in a face-to-face scenario it would all be a lot more pleasant.

Have a good season all.....

Thats a Townie answer if ever I heard one!

Clapham, probably was a nice village years ago, inhabited by countryfolk, but now probably full of Townies moved in form bedford,to escape litter dropping
yobbish townies :D

Much the same all over the uk,so not very many countryfolk villages left anymore,as most villages have swelled with posh estates, filled with, well off
folk escaping town life, who brought thier bad habits with them.

So country folk now no better than townfolk, and just as much litter flung out the windows of BMWs as thier is from Vauxhall Corsas:p

What a load of rubbish ! Some tit has left rubbish on the first day of the season well pointed by Martin and you lot are moaning a about a word a" Townie " or "city folk ".

Christ boys i thought the bickering was left for the close season?
Stop wasting your time, get out there and catch a fish.

Exactly.

People need to get over themselves.

Especially you Townies.

I just despair of stuff like this. Making sweeping and derogatory generalisations about folk based on their social and geographical origins is really no different from doing the same thing to folk from the Asian, Afro-carribean, and Jewish communities.
I don't like it when I find that anglers have left rubbish on the river bank, thankfully rare where I fish these days. I also don't like it when anglers leave rubbish on the internet. Neither show the sport in a good light.
Shaun
First session on the Sussex Ouse tomorrow, wish me luck.

Its got nothing to do with social and geographical origins.

More to do with people being so out of touch with nature that they believe it okay to litter the countryside.

Someone with such a mentality would be a Townie.

They could come from Luton Town or blinking TimBuckToo.

problem is that a lot of lake/pit owners ask the anglers to do this as a preferred alternative to leavint the bag on the ground (rats) yes i do realise they can run up a tree but its probably harder for em to smell and locate it there, then the lake/pit clearup guys just collect it on their patrols, now a lot of those fishing like that probably dont visit the rivers that often and probably think theyre doing things proper, as already said educations needed

No it gets better some joker thinks Clapham is in the country

Now thats Chav :D

CLAPHAM is a village and parish, on the north bank of the river Ouse, and on the road from Bedford to Higham Ferrers, 2 miles north-west from Bedford, in the Northern division of the county, hundred of Stodden,:p:p:p:p
