Hi Mark
if you are referring to the Arrow there are Barbel in there, but in my experience of fishing this gem of a river for a long time, they are rarer than hens teeth around Redditch I am afraid. They tend to be further downstream, however that shouldn't dissuade you.
As you suggest...
I see they have even included a chapter to help us all "stop wasting time and money on various marketing gimmicks". I wonder if it includes a paragraph or two on avoiding books that promise the earth and deliver nothing...:)
The 'offence' wasnt on BAA water. Although I doubt this was the case, mitigation might be "I left the rod under the control and attention of someone else"
I read the article too and my first reaction was similar to those just stated. however I reflected a bit more and although my initial view remained, I felt somewhat saddened that the editorial angle has detracted from the excellent work the BAA fisheries team has done in 2012. As a member of the...
You can fish BAA one hour before/after sunrise/sunset in any event. Given the lack of bailiffing I would say you would have too much trouble were you to arrive a little early or pack up a bit late! I am not condoning rule breaking of course but members join and agree to the rules but it is...
I try to gauge the conditions to determine my hooklength particularly with a feeder. The faster the flow, the longer the h/l I will tend to use to keep the feed around the bait. I will also take into account the clarity of the water e.g. if using a lead; having a longer h/l in clearer...
Thanks for the tip off Andy. I was on the hunt for a new reel and managed to find one at a local store this weekend. Interestingly they were insistent on trying to charge the full price. I had to show them the web advert on my phone and even then they tried to wriggle out of it by saying it was...
The EA keep sending me a salmon licence each year for the price of a coarse licence; not sure why. Have asked them and they dont seem to know why or even care.
Hi Neil, I do agree with you, and you would have won the bet. If one were to come out that size in the 'traditional' middle I would be very surprised indeed.
Purely answering the question, I consider the lower to start around the Teme confluence area as its an easy geographical point, but...
Indeed it may well have come from a popular stretch on the lower. But it could equally have come from a quiet spot on the middle with those either side aquainted with dad and son.
They were there purely for the pleasure of fishing as were those in the swim either side and there was no additional benefit to be gained above seeing it and safely returning it. They have their photos and the memory of a fantastic fish and experience of (probably) a lifetime. Life isnt always...
Wasn't my fish and have never had one anywhere near that size. Was merely stating what was witnessed in response to a post about large Severn barbel that's all. Not interested if others believe it or not. That's up to them.
Witnessed a 17.08 the season before last to a young lad on his second outing with his dad. Not sure who was most pleased, it was an awesome specimen and a pleasure to be there to see it al
I have a couple of the 12' duo's and really rate them for their versatility. I use them in snaggy areas in normal flow with or without the tips and also for carp and pike (without tips). They have even served me well for mullet on hols! Although I know others do not like Fox rods, I have found...
Spoon? What do you mean spoon? No-one has mentioned a spoon before....plastic, wooden, stainless steel, silver? Do they come in camo??? How big? Are we talking tea spoon or ladle or somewhere in between??? Also if there is a tea spoon why isnt there a coffee spoon??
Is there a three flask...
David, Clive; thanks for the info. I now have now been out and bought three camo flasks (just in case I hook into a river carp - I want to look the real deal!) and a new fendi camo bag (to share with my lovely wife). I bought these on the internet by the way, my local tackle shop did not have...
