    Yorkshire

Hi gents, my wife and I are planning a visit to the North Yorkshire Moors in late September. Any suggestions on a good central place to stay, nice small town with a few good pubs etc, and hopefully within striking distance of a couple of the rivers with a chance of a barbel. Any info...

    tough start

Ive had 9 days on the rivers so far, one on the Teme, 5 on the Wye and 3 on the Severn for a total of 20 barbel, way below what I would have expected to catch based on previous years. Ive been mainly float fishing with an hour or two on feeder, lots of quality chub on the Wye as a bonus but the...

    best 4000 size reel

Ive been a Stradic fan and user for the last 20 years, I might be tempted to change a couple but what for ? I don't want a bait runner, just a good 4000 size reel with smooth clutch and enough cranking power for feeder fishing the Wye and Severn in low/medium conditions ? What do you chaps use ?

    lighter float rod

what are the recommendations for a lighter float rod, say max line strength 6lb, for silvers and chub ? Id like a minimum 15' but might go as long as 16' or 17'. Contenders so far are the Acolyte Ultra 15', Acolyte 17' and Cadence 16' no. 1, was also looking for the Maver Signature Pro Classic...

I’ll start this thread by sharing my expensive mishap today. After a hard day on the Wye (1barbel and a few chublets) got back to the car in the dark, packed gear away and drove off, 100 yards up the road I had the horrible realisation I had not put my rod in the back, it wa resting against the...
