    Paste

DNA baits secret 7 boilie paste is a very good paste bait just as it is. Firm enough to stay on the hook, easy enough to stike through. I keep some in the freezer & use it all winter for chub & in flooded summer conditions for barbel. I'll sometimes put a bit of PVA string around the hook &...

Now sorted - many thanks Rob. Just need some fish now!

    Interesting Vid from Mark Tunley

I have a vague memory of Jim Gibbinson demonstrating something similar with a light fly rod vs a pike rod, each pulling on a spring balance - must be 25+ years ago.

    8’ 6” Fly rod – Marcus Warwick `Manhattan` carbon #6-7 £25

This is a lovely rod with a relaxed `bamboo action` from a good maker. It’s in sound condition but would benefit from being spruced up – the whippings are sound but have faded from purple to greyish & the varnish has some nicks in it, mostly on the butt section. The wooden reel seat needs a rub...

Looking for old Terry Eustace rod - T101 or maybe T24

Hoping there might be one in your attic - glass `particle carp` or `carp` - wouldn't mind if it's scruffy as long as it's useable. If you might help please send a message, Many thanks, Julian

Alan Brown Hitchin11’ 6” glassfibre rod

Hopefully of interest to a glass rod enthusiast on here : It may be an early rod & a `special order` with the graphics on the butt. I’ve decided to put it up for sale due to lack of use & it seems a shame it isn’t being enjoyed by someone who would appreciate it. I’ve added some extra photos...

Water Company Dividends up £540m from last year...

Had a look today at the `River Nidd Action Group` website which is pressuring Yorks Water to clean up their act. I found a useful tool on their website to find how many instances & duration of sewage overflows : https://www.niddactiongroup.org/page-3/ this comes from the Catchment Based...

Shimano Antares Specialist 12' twin top excellent condition

A very versatile & beautifully finished rod which was ~ £200+ 20 years ago. An old review here: https://www.fishingmagic.com/the-shimano-antares-specialist-rod/ Approx 1lb 6oz t.c. If you fish smaller rivers it would be a first class rod for your barbel, either with the quiver top or as an...

Tony Fordham Sportex 1lb t/c Carbon kevlar Now Sold - thanks George!

In excellent condition & a lovely light rod for chub perch or smaller barbel. A classic Avon through action. I only have one put over quiver top for it, approx 1 ½ oz as best I can judge. I would prefer collection from Ripon North Yorks, as the best courier price I can find these days is...

    It’s back !!

We always had `Yorkshire pud` as yes, a pudding, when was a kid - just sprinkled with sugar. It bore no resemblance to the photo earlier - more of an inch thick pancake. Followed up at suppertime with bread & dripping. But that was in Worcestershire ...

    It’s back !!

I'm sure I recall the Yorkshire record of 12lb 11oz from the Nidd being taken on a square of Yorkshire pud - 1977 ...

Simpsons of Turnford carbon Tenchfisher - Rod now sold

Lovely Simpsons rod, I've used it for chub a few times over the years, had barbel up to 7lb on it & it's been up to the job. Test curve just about 1.25lb as far as I recall, threaded tip - I have swapped from float to leger with it as well. Action is well down the lower section when under...

    Landing nets

Just got the Darent Valley in a 32" which is plenty big enough for me. Seems very well made with deep enough mesh & strong arms which `curve in a bit`. Some sort of polymer block but it does appear tough. If that breaks I'll replace it with an old Terry Eustace alloy one which could be used...

Preston Innovations 11’ 6” feeder Asaki blank 3 top section model

Hello & thanks for the advice - I do have a response from someone local at the advertised price so I might need to honour it - am having a bit of a clear out. I'm a bit out of touch with prices for tackle & I don't want to use Ebay if possible. Thanks again, Julian

Preston Innovations 11’ 6” feeder Asaki blank 3 top section model

Very useful as a chub rod, probably not pokey enough for serious barbel fishing. Lovely action & the lighter`2` & `3` tips are ideal for stillwater - seems to be a favourite with bream anglers & the rod will handle carp up to doubles Ok in open water. A review from when the rods were released...

Hardly used & a useful tool for when the Swale or Wharfe is pushing through with extra water, or for bigger rivers. 2 quiver tips, 4oz & 6 oz. All rings & whippings perfect. Avon top never used. Original bag. Collection from Ripon only please. £65

    Lesson Learnt. Rod Posting

Hoping someone could update options for posting rods for me. I've had a look & found it difficult to get a price under £28 for a tube 10x10 x 198 cm, 2.9kg. It seems that's just too long for most couriers. Is it just another case of inflated prices these day `because we can get away with it`?
