Hi Guys,
About 10yrs ago I was an avid barbel angler but since then life has caught up with me and the barbel have taken a back seat. I used to fish the Teme and Severn on the BAA waters but thought I’d check on here to see where has been catching good barbel bags over the last few seasons ...
Hiya Guys,
I haven't been barbel fishing for a while and yesterday I travelled to Knowle Sands on the Severn to have a go for the Barbel. My main two baits were going to be meat and halibut pellet, but when I went to Tesco's to get the luncheon meat I saw it was £2 a tin so I decided to try a...

I have been using carp rods for piking for years. I don't know for certain but I would imagine there is no difference at all between a piking or carp blank.
I have used 2.25tc Normark Cyprio carp rods for piking for years. I have even thrown 6oz live baits 50yds with them along with a 3oz...
I have been using fireline on my barbel reels for over 10 years now in 14lb gunsmoke and have only changed it twice. I only changed it then as I had lost a fair amount of it carping in France.
I find fireline to be absolutely awesome, because the line has zero stretch you feel every move the...
Hiya Keith,
Great minds think alike mate. I have just sent the drawing to 10 local companies that fabricate stainless and aluminium products. Hope the costs are not too prohibitive.
I saw those sand spikes when I was hunting for the tubes. They are a lot bigger than the small tubes that stick on the end of a bankstick though. I would prefer a piece of stainless pipe if possible blanked off.
Hiya Guys,
Some years ago I have a fantastic rod holder that was just a piece of stainless steel tube blanked off on one end with a 3/8 BSF bolt through the end and the tube had the front face cut away as in the diagram below.
It was absolutely fanstastic for holding a rod at 45-60 degrees...
I think I am going to head for Trimpley and Severn Stoke with my spade, saw and scythe to check out the banks for decent swims.
What are the pegs like at Trimpley and Severn Stoke??? do they get much use ???
Will they need digging out or are they pretty well established ???
