As you say Rhys, surely someone must have noticed scales, carcasses, or some sign of predation.
Something distinctly fishy about this case, pardon the pun:rolleyes:
8.500 carp in one lake?
Looking at the pictures in the story these lakes look very small!
Why would anyone put that amount of carp in a lake, unless it was one big lake?
Something doesn't smell right to me.
As has been touched on by Adrian, fish have been around for millions of years without really developing a great deal. They are a fairly basic life form. They rely on a basic survival technique. If you grab a fish it wriggles to get free. It would be just the same if it was grabbed by another...
I thought the programme dealt very fairly (although very briefly) with the anglers concerns. There was no mention of culling/controlling, no irate fishery owners calling for blood so not all is lost.
Unless of course you've had a lake full of carp munched and then it will certainly feel...
Too many.
6 carp rods
Spod rod
Marker rod
Stalking rod
4 barbel rods
2 match rods
1 power match rod
1 trotting rod
1 avon rod
3 feeder rods
1 spinning rod
1 pole
and no more room for any more, yet.
I actually saw the story in Angling Times on Tuesday and was wondering when you would post the pics on here.
Fantastic fish man, on the back of the previous trio of 16lb'ers, you're having a run of a lifetime.
Very well done and congratulations if the fish turns out to be a new river record:D
Gregory,
I have no idea, Karen presented it to us at a meeting a couple of months ago.
I will ask if it of interest.
Rgds, Ian.
Crook,
no need now thanks
Regards
Martin:rolleyes:
Ian, would you mind sharing the name of this piece of research?
It would also be very helpful if you could tell me which University sponsored the said research paper.
I for one would be very interested in giving it the once over.
Graham, my info is straight from Karen, I am just praising John for having the bottle to stand up against the flow and present that info, which is unquestionable by the way, to the masses.
Not wishing to question research I haven't had the pleasure of reading but in my experience, nothing is...
Andrew Kerr, chairman of SEG, agreed that lack of evidence is a problem for the industry is a problem but he pointed out that several scientists who work for ICES have supported the ‘Standard’.
He said: “We can’t be doing harm and are very likely doing something positive for eel...
Well well, this has got interesting.
I read and reread David G's post and couldn't find anything that I thought was racist. Not that I'm the expert on racism but I do tend to be a tad quick on the draw if I suspect others of being that way inclined.
I did think the post in question had...
There's lots of conjecture about the cause of the decline of the Eel but, no hard facts as far as I can tell. Possibly a parasitic infection, over fishing and decimation of glass eels in the tidal stretches as some of the proposed causes.
One thing is for sure though, something is dreadfully...
Something I've tried this year, I've not caught on it yet but a mate of mine has:rolleyes:
1/4of a kilo of spicey boilie, ground back into powder. Halibut crush groundbait (approx 200 grams)
5ml of LO30
1ml Intense sweetener
Two teaspoons of garlic powder ( I'd run out of powder so...
Under Item Description it says Acceptable which I would agree with. Not outstanding but certainly acceptable!
Beer goggles firmly in place I presume:rolleyes::eek:
