    OCD and fishing.

The only thing I am vaguely neat or organised about is clearing up other people's rubbish in a peg. I wouldn't leave someone's old cigarette end or a corner of a plastic wrapper or a pellet in case anyone thought it was me, but at the same time while I'm there my gear will look like a bomb has...

    Three piece barbel rods

Suddenly realised I was wrong about this - even with the stuck dolly section it would transport at three 4 foot sections with tips separate, which is precisely why I got two of these myself. When i realised this, i decided I would have liked to bid, if the price was right, to get myself a third...

    Three piece barbel rods

Great to see there are others who go fishing on bike/public transport, and so favour 3-piece rods like me (Though I often use 2-piece rods when my Mrs is driving). I've been desperately searching for a replacement for my Browning Hybrid Barbel rod (NB not Browning hybrid feeder rod which are...

New fishery open on the River Wye which might be of interest

Hope you don't mind me bumping a 7-y-o thread but seven years on from me posting in this thread, the wrong thread, after writing down the wrong phone number, we finally got to fish the Fantastic Mr. Fox's fabulous Old Harp fishery (which used to be "new") last weekend. We only make it to the...

WANTED: Browning Hybrid barbel 12' 3-piece (from about 10 years ago?)

Must admit I'd never even heard of Marketplace till now. Now that I have googled it and realise it's a FB thing , it must be 'cos until now whenever the word 'facebook' is mentioned I immediately switch off I guess I'd better start looking on there though, so thanks for the heads-up.

WANTED: Browning Hybrid barbel 12' 3-piece (from about 10 years ago?)

Reply Please let me know if you see one. I've been looking for a year , and am happy to pay three or four times that amount (and I'm out of work at 60 but looking unlikely to retire until about 75)

WANTED: Browning Hybrid barbel 12' 3-piece (from about 10 years ago?)

Not seen one of these advertised for a few years, so I know it's a long-shot, but it was my favourite 3-piece barbel rod ever and I need a replacement. Or two. Just posting on the off-chance that someone who doesn't really like 3-piece rods has one sitting around, as that's how I got my original...

    Cheese Paste Recipes

Yep, simple as this. Buy any ready-roll pastry, mix in any softened left-over cheese, as strong as possible with some blue in it, plus garlic powder, salt. If too soft add crumb. Takes me about 3 minutes to make a few months' worth. As I fish it with crumb anyway I've always got crumb handy. As...

Autumn wye barbel approach (this weekend! )

that's the one, though it's more like flatter paving slabs now, so it can be fished with waders with a foot and a half of water above it, as I did, but it got too dangerous as the river rose. the fishing rights are owned by the hedge fund couple (now divorced) who make about quarter of a billion...

Autumn wye barbel approach (this weekend! )

Private estate stretch where Drennan film their videos. Np public tickets, so we got very lucky. I was in dream-land because the best peg was the one where Peter Drennan filmed a video that was one of the first barbel videos I ever watched. Also where Martin Bowler filmed a recent one called...

Autumn wye barbel approach (this weekend! )

I feel stupid for writing that now, after reading your comment in the 'Red Lion' thread about how it had risen overnight where you were, 'cos if you were a lot further upstream the whole day must have been as difficult as ours was after 2pm. We were lucky with the timing that we got that first...

Autumn wye barbel approach (this weekend! )

How did you get on, Jon? Hope you managed some fishing before it started really rising on Saturday afternoon. We made the mistake of not starting till 9.30am, not realising how much the coming rise from the night's rain would affect us, but between then and 2pm we had 7 barbel and about nice 6...

Autumn wye barbel approach (this weekend! )

I'm no expert, but as it happens Saturday will be my own first day on the Wye for 3 or 4 years, so thought I'd join in the thread. We'll be taking local advice but as that local advice isn't arriving until after we've started fishing on Saturday, and as we arrive late on Friday and will probably...

    Rod travel length

Yes it's the same rod, and yes, that makes sense, so 3 foot 8 minimum.
