    Strange catch....

"Goodness knows how a mattress ended up 10 miles off Flamborough Head." Surely it was on the sea bed:p I once hooked a mink on a legered sprat and I did hook my wife in the forehead whilst casting (no sense of humour some people )

If you want a true insight into the PAG and the reasons behind their work then check out the editorial in this months Carpworld written by Tim Paisley, it is a real eye opener.

    Wye bother in Winter

There are some very good winter swims on the Wye and the chub and roach fishing can be fantastic however, barbel are very hard to catch consistently. They do feed though, when you get one it will be fit and fat but they are hard work and each one is usually the reward for great effort. Given...

    Laser Pens

Let's put this into context. Lasers are generally used on large waters where the chances of a stray beam across a 100 acre pit doing any harm to or annoying a member of the public or anybody else is virtually non existent. Also, the birds are fast learners and when, during daylight, the coots...

    Laser Pens

For Martin I meant an 'advantage' to both the angler but more especially to the coot/tufty or whatever. I don't want to harm birds and I certainly don't want them to either harm me or mess up my swim. And the reason you are catching fish where the ducks are diving is that you may well be...

    Laser Pens

If you've ever tried to unhook an angry coot that has dived 10' or more to get your bait in the night then you will understand that a non lethal but highly effective deterrent can be an advantage. Also, mine makes pretty patterns which is lovely :p

    winter suit

I've just been reviewing the TFGear Thermo-Tex Extreme jacket and trousers and I have to say that they are brilliant. No bull, they are very warm, well made and have plenty of thoughtful features. At £100 for total warmth, waterproof and comfort you can't go wrong.

    Barbel wounds

The top one has been, imho, sliced by braid - its pectoral seems to be missing as well a classic braid injury. The bottom one looks to have been bitten by either a large pike or an otter but without having a closer look at the fish I wouldn't like to say which.
