No Probs mark, I sometimes come over as more upset than I really am, bad habit I'm afraid. My point is that if you try GENUINE expensive Crocks, they really are supremely comfortable. The trouble is, there are so many far eastern copies out there now, even with the Crocks logo and all...that just a walk up and down on the carpet in the shoe shop tells you nowt. Once you get on the gravel path around the lake, it takes about two seconds to realise you have made a BIG, BAD mistake. they are worse than useless. Then people slag all Crocks off, because they have NO idea what the real ones are like

Bought mine in a Bass Pro shop in the US, cost less than some of the crud over here...and yes, I am sorry to say that I actually like the camo pattern. If you want to wear red or bright blue ones, be my guest. You won't hear one peep of pee taking from me over another persons colour/pattern choice. It's a free country and all that.
The other point is, if you are carping for days and nights on end, you really cannot be on the rods, awake, all the time. Rods on electronic alarms and baitrunners are a perfectly safe system to use to get a few hours kip, and I guarantee I was on my fish as quick as any of the pee takers and phony purists laying back and nodding on their comfy armchairs, pretending to be jolly fine chaps....and I NEVER lost a single fish 'because it ran and got snagged up'...or any of the other rubbish those who know nothing about it trot out with monotonous, boring regularity.
Why do you need bivvy slippers (Crocks) at all? I will tell you. At the slightest beep from your alarms, you are out of your unzipped bag in a flash, still wearing the clothes you sleep in, usuallyT shirt and joggy bottoms, and as your legs swing out, your feet slot straight into your pre positioned Crocks (which are turned into slip-ons by revolving the ankle strap to the front the night before) and you are on your fish in seconds. It is a well practiced, time proven method that protects your feet...and I PROMISE you it works, and works well. OK, they may not be the best on steep, soaking, slippery muddy banks on rivers, but PLEASE don't try to tell me that bare feet are better...and I don't have time to strap a couple of boots made out of tractor tires on to my feet. THAT is why. It is NOT foolish following of fashion, it is a perfectly logical, sensible EFFICIENT footwear...and they come in any colour you like
I know a bit of banter is good fun....but it wears SOOOOO thin and gets SOOOO boring when the same **** is trotted out, often by the same people, day in, day out.
So, no, I wasn't having a pop at you either....and you ARE right, we all have an embarrassing collection of the most useless **** ever invented. I often look at some of the bits, twenty years later, and I STILL don't know why the hell I bought them...it doesn't pay to dig TOO far into the back of the garage when fellow fishermen are around

BUT trust me, decent Crocks aint on of them
Cheers, Dave.
