Lone angler

shameful pricing

i remember my early years fishing for our whiskered friends and was influenced by the hype of baits etc:rolleyes:

for the benefit of lads who are new to barbel angling don't follow the hype of all these so called super baits:confused:

there's loads of shop bought pellets that will catch you fish!

just put the time and effort in learn to read a river and present your bait without spooking any fish present and you'll do as well as buying pellets at these price's:(

i've met trefor once and he really is such a nice guy and what a tremendous book he published with some great advice.
buy his book would be my advice;)

looks like me dave and neil will be missing out next season!

'The new improved Daz'?
Any genuine inovations should be welcomed I guess,..thats what makes the marketing world go around,...and that is exactly what it seems to do,..round and round and rou.............:::!

Adrian, I've got one of those landing net handles in my garage, stopped using it when my gym membership expired. Have kept it for occassional use as a lawn roller.

I'll buy it off you Nick. I haven't found a better pole for use in fast flowing rivers, and I've tried a good few. I even use it for roach and grayling fishing, because it makes landing the fish so much easier.

Now that is a post I can totally agree with.......for what that's worth........

Nick,
I'm not knocking that handle, it was/is a great bit of kit, I finally gave mine to a mate. He's lost nearly 4 stone since then and is looking pretty cut for a bloke just turned 60; I like to think my gift had something to do with that.

Jesus with those prices they wont see out the year has anyone mentioned to them there's a infinity dip recession on! And as said before nothing new here I have 2 of the Powerstretch handles I don't find them heavy (but they are compared to most) but you could fight your way out of a ghetto with them but £66 you are having a laugh.
If you want a landing net handle buy a Gardner Specialist Landing Net Handle XT £33.
If you want some pellets buy Bait Tech or Dynamite around £4
If you want a Harrison rod and want something special ask Bob Gill or a little cheaper ask Dave Lumb From £195 standard build.
I'd like to wish them well but tbh its bloody expensive nothing new.......

Yes it all looks pretty dear. Mr Gauntlett has it about right in his analysis; nothing really new and a consolidation of existing brands. I guess some will go for it, whereas others won't, as with all things in life.

Trefor's books are a wonderful read; erudite and informative......but as they say on Dragon's Den; "I'm out".

Do me a 11' or 12' handle like that and I would pay £66!

gullible

Good luck lads - ignore all the knockers on here - nowt better to do.

Some good anglers on the "team"

no doubting them being good anglers on the team:rolleyes:

what i don't like is the so called elite angler's pushing bait on people at crazy prices:(
it make's me wince when i see the superstars catching the same fish from the stretches then advertising a certain bait:rolleyes:(quite obvious the location is the key NOT THE BAIT.

as i stated newbies to barbel fishing look upto these types and will pay threw the teeth for a product that their idol's use or more to the point(advertise).

although your post isn't directly aimed at me but if you had any idea about barbel fishing then you'd agree in what i said!
in my post i don't knock them as people infact i praised one of the anglers book's.
as well as the angling elite there's plenty more capable angler's doing very well behind closed doors using shop bought bait's and they won't be using these new revelation baits:confused:
bait is a confidence thing but location is the major factor in catching fish big or small.
keith speers is a great example of how much we need these special baits when he's pulling out these big special fish using:
maggot's(applied correctly) in the right location:)

even myself a self confessed pie eating lancastrian catches a few fish including some very nice specimen's;)

what's my secret?
location,location,location.
shop bought baits(they all work if applied correctly)
watercraft and time spent on the bank.

oh just for you dan i've a special bait here for you at a special price its my new (psk) range

peppered steak+ kidney:p

John - wind your neck pal, you don't know me, have never met me and have no idea about my fishing......

if you are not a big enough man to wish well to someone who has given so much to Barbel and Barbel fishing (thats Mr West by the way) then shame on you.

Dan I wish them well I like Trefor and Tony comes across very genuine but there's no escaping it rehashed gear at top prices. If they had innovated and brought something new there might be more excitment about their move on this forum.

I should say that I look forward to something new from them.

I have the utmost respect for tony and Trevor I have learned so much from their ideas but. i am surprised at the prices of the launch products.not what I expected.
Albert

I'm not suprised, its a business venture out to make whatever profit they can, nothing to do with reputations apart from cashing in on them! No different to Korda , ESP, or Nash its about selling products at inflated prices to the great tackle buying public
