If it’s quite a soft tip then don’t have it laying flat between tip and second eye or they crack. In this case you either isoblob it on the tip ring itself or stand it up.
A slightly stiffer tip rod they are fine laying flat on the blank.
I have had them on torrixs and seekers for years but I know of a number of free spirit hi s owners that have replaced a good few as the tip is soft and the flat isotope cant take the pressure, Just something to bare in mind

Good point Richard. The tip is definitely softer than torrix and seeker, but I think they may just slightly softer or even same as the Harrison Avon or Chimear Avon. So I think a flat isotope should work fine on it.

I would look at tip ring solutions if I was you. Sounds like you might have trouble with them cracking if it’s that soft and sensitive.

By all means try it but it’s a pain in the arse to swap out if they crack. Ask @Terry Harman
His Hi s rods are soft tips and he’s only used em twice. Isotope cracked. Back to Tunley.
I think you need the right tip action to have success with them laying on the blank

The ring position will be same as the original, I won’t put one on if it will crack the isotope. Maybe put a fly rod ring to hold the isotope tube.

I think you guys will be surprised at how soft the rod tops are on this rod. Nothing in my mind comes close to them nowadays.

You'll all be pleasantly surprised I'd hasten to add😊

If they're like my originals, which I'm sure they are, the smallest of perch & their bites had the top section dancing away merrily, Roach too!
I was laughing at how those small fish bites registered. That's a positive comment by the way, not like the so called avons they call today! 🤦‍♂️

Will show you the shyest of bites from Chub, and the top section just pulls round nicely!

It's quite a sensitive rod, and when I read Martin James, Mick Holgate and the original guys that got to see/use the prototypes, saying it could of been labelled the all rounder, they weren't wrong. 1.5oz leads probably would be the sweet spot on these rods, and link legering and small bomb work, & trundling freelined baits just the job!

Great for your small intimate waters through to medium rivers with summer flows/levels, not a flood rod!

Isotopes Huanzhou, I'd use the enterprise tackle (barbel quiver) sized ones, I think that were the ones I used, and the great thing about these, is that Enterprise also did a packet of coloured sight tips, which go with them too for daytime fishing (sold separately).
Then get a good quality isotope for the night, and your all set buddy 👍

All received and a beauty ! Slight change of plan on the thread for me. Been back and forth chatting with my builder and going to do a twist on the original being the ground blank. So if anyone wants the original thread it will be here in a week or so and happy to post on FOC when it arrives. If you would just stick a 10er in charity box or donate to the forum as it helped us get here would be grand if any one wants it. It’s coming from the US so subject to it’s arival but imagine it’s a week out.

Just a thought... My old shimano technium specialist avons had 2 little wire loops to take a slither of silicone that would then accept an isotope...

On some occasions Huanzhou, the line has a habit of catching the wire, so maybe I wouldn't put anything on that build, other than what I added yesterday (so at least they're removable) Just a thought my friend 👍

I always find you get line wrap with the enterprise isotope holders because the sit back on the tip ….that’s why I made the the ones in the pic above because they sit forward of the tip ring
