the land of pies
those bolton and swinton lads can eat
best is comin off the ribble and calling at the chippy with my mate mark to finish off a good day out

I Like to take some bread n olives, crostinis & humous dip, maybe some red wine n cheeses too.

A man after my own heart. What about some nice serrano or parma ham as well? If the weather is good you can't beat this kind of food.
If it's cold I'm a bacon butty or sausage roll kind of guy though.
cheers

Love Jamon Iberico, manchego, boquerones etc., but tend to enjoy them at home with a glass of fino and rioja!. On the riverbank you cannot beat

Brunch

Just got back from cafe ,5 bacon,3sausage, 2 eggs, black pudding, cheese dip, mooshrooms, plum tomatoes, fried bread and for toast, with two mugs of tea, thinking about some snap to take on river this afternoon looks like meat and onion pies with extra juice has won the day!:D

tin of tesco rice and tin of curry, full monty breakfasts, peaches, anything you need a tin opener for:D sod the heart condition, sorry doc i gave in to temptations:D:D

At this time of the year when I don't need a hot meal my usual little bankside feast would be a couple of mini pork pies, a couple of ham salad barms and a packet of eccles cakes.............yummy.

During colder weather or if I am on for a long session I will take a small food flask with either heinz big soup (Italian meatball a fav), spag bol, curry or chilli concarne.

One of the kids bought me this http://www.completeoutdoors.co.uk/Aladdin-Stanley-Food-Flask-0.5-litres for xmas and has been a cracking present.

Having read this thread I can't help thinking that there's going to be a lot more swims free in the next few years as the current anglers fishing them succumb to coronaries and diabetes!

David, you put words to the thoughts I have had from very early on in this thread :p The fact that the thread has lasted this long and generated such enthusiasm suggests to me that catching fish may not be the most important activity for some when they visit the banks :D:D:D

Cheers, Dave

Catching fish is all part of the fun Dave, but there is nothing like just being out on the banks, and not starving while doing so! :D

i agree david.......but if anyone local goes before me......im after a size 10 welly boot.....:D

I've just got a food flask from Aldi, not your usual. This one, you empty your big soup/curry/beans/corned beef stew into it and pop it in the microwave. No more faffing about heating up in pans and transferring to the flask. It's also got a spoon built into the lid.:D

Really quite good!

Help

If i go on the bank dont trouble yourselfs trying to carry me roll me in the river and i become a good flood swim! Any food left split amongst all of you!

After catching an 11lb tench a while ago, I decided to celebrate the occasion by splashing out on a whopping great rib-eye steak to fry up on the bank. No sooner had I got this beauty cooked to perfection than one of my rods was away..... Luckily it didn't hook up and never have I been as pleased to have missed a bite!
