Just too wet your appetite
Fished all day at Britford yesterday with Mark a fellow BFW member in close to appalling conditions, the wind made it impossible to use a centrepin so opted for a closed face reel.
After a quick briefing from top man Stuart the bailiff in the car park I fished one of the first swims on the Old River we was quickly catching all day long despite the terrible conditions of driving rain and swirling gusting downstream wind which made it almost impossible to control the float, but despite all this we ended up with a great bag of fish including Grayling (The larger ones are masters of getting off the hook) Dace, Brown Trout, Salmon Parr and personally lots of chub which are great fun on light tackle, Mark also had 1 Roach.
The weather forced us to pack up at 3pm and we both agreed it was one of the most enjoyable days fishing we have had and are eager to go back when the conditions are better !
For the record was using a 4BB wire stemmed stick float, size 18 micro barbed hook to 1lb 12oz hook length, got through 3 pints of RED Maggots, 1 pint of Casters
I’m sure you will enjoy it
