    French barbel fishing

Managed 14 barbel in a 4 hour session on a section of The River Meuse this week. Europe is the place lads, and Ade Kiddell is the best angler I’ve ever fished with by a country mile.

What are bucket bags like as roaming tools

Mine is the smaller of the two sizes, 10L I believe, it’s brilliant, although I don’t use it so much now as I used to

What are bucket bags like as roaming tools

I have the Fox camolite one and didn’t pay anywhere near that price. One of the best bits I’ve got for roving style, highly recommend.

Hello- I am new to the forum.

Ahhhh a little downstream from where I usually go. There’s a lot of fish to be had around there though so I hear. Best of luck to you on your barbel journey, they’re a magnificent species and lots of fun

    mortimer & whitehouse gone fishing

Great show, but from experience I’d advise against using “Angling Dreams” as a booking agent for the River Wye (which I know the BBC used for the last episode) I’ve not gone public with my story yet, and there may be some people on this forum who are mates with Adam Fisher, but I had the worst...

    Pellets

Agreed Josh. I’ve definitely had good bags and bad bags of the same brand and sent before. My go to will always be Sonusbaits spicy sausage now though, they always seem to be quite potent and I’ve had good success on them.

    Pellets

Chris, Sonusbaits also do a eliptical style pellet. I think they’re a tad better than hinders too

    French barbel fishing

Which ever Mr Kiddell wants to take me! With how difficult it’s been on the UK rivers, I can’t wait to get over there!

Fingers crossed for you Chris Guy, you’ve described a piece of heaven there!

Items you have purchased to use while fishing without paying carp tax

I’ve wasted some money on tackle, buying bits that I thought were great at the time, later realising I’d made a mistake after one or two uses, and then looking to buy the other brands version almost immediately. I don’t know why I wanted to share that, I just saw the title of the thread ‘carp...

Has anybody ever had that impossible 10lb in a Tinca?

I had a PB tench this morning, ironically, it too weighed 6lb 6oz and I’m now hoping for my 7lb’er!!!

    The Holy Grail

May 2020 will mark three years of continued commitment to the hobby since abandoning it as a kid. I've been fortunate to have had some notable catches in this three year period so far, and am also very thankful of the time and investment of effort from some of the more seasoned anglers who've...

Barbel and Chub study on the River Dove and upper Trent

Hello to anyone else who may have been in attendance last night, was great to meet some of the folk there. For those that never made it, I'd like to say it was a very insightful evening, with lots of very good points raised as to why the fish numbers across the UK river systems may be falling...

    Record Barbel

Stuart, you make a very good point and echo my own thoughts. Perhaps this isna sign of the times, I’m not knocking the bloke, but why “record holder” would (most definitely will) hold more weight than an angler who helps to run clubs, clear pegs, teaches kids how to fish etc; it leaves me a...

    Record Barbel

I would have loved to have seen the Teme, Severn and othe rivers in their hay day, and I hope I don’t cause any offence by saying this, but when I’m as old as some of the members of this forum are (please don’t hate me for being age-ist) I hope I too can look back at my angling in yesteryear and...
