Thanks for the replies chaps.
I must admit the first time I saw otters I was mesmerised but after several dozen sightings the 'magic' wears off a bit.
Ultimately when I go fishing my aim is to catch fish. Having otters surface right over my bait doesn't fill me with confidence in achieving...
I fished a stretch of the Hants Avon last night, arriving at the river at around 4.30pm. Settled into a swim and put a little bit of bait down through small PVA mesh bags. I was planning on staying til around 9.30pm.
At about 7.45pm there was a big swirl over the spot followed by an otter...
Hi Chaps,

Barbel Days & Ways - Volume 2 - £12 posted
Catching the Impossible - DVD 1 - (this contains the episode with Martin's 15lb+ Ouse barbel) - £12 posted...
Last season I had some good catches early season fishing pellet. However during winter things became tough and I feel that a boilie and paste wrap would have been a better approach (more attraction, less feed). After plenty of online research I have decided to go with one of the CC Moore boilies...
After a good long chat with Gary this morning he has advised that the speedia is not ideal for what I'm after (fishing lightish stick floats 6x4 etc) for roach. I have decided I might aswell have the service/spindle replacement done anyway as I'm sure I'll find a use for the Speedia at some...
I too fish alone most of the time and posted a very similar thread to yours last season. I now use a small travel tripod (very compact and lightweight) with a Canon G11 that has a swivel screen. I set the timer to take 10 shots in succession 20 seconds after pressing the button. Here's a couple...
Quick update - sent the reel to Garry at Mill Tackle. He confirmed that the spindle is 'gone' and will need to be replaced, bumping the full service price up to around £52, making the reel £80 in total (with what I paid on Ebay).
Let's hope it's all worth it!!
Thanks for all the help and advice chaps, very much appreciated!
After removing all the line (full to the brim,6 different lines all on top of eachother) and cleaning out all the muck I managed to get the spin time to around 25 seconds. Fished with the reel on Sunday (4x4 stickfloat) and the...
Looking for a bit of advice if possible. Managed to get a second hand Speedia centrepin on Ebay this week. It's well used but seems to be in good working order. My question is, how long (roughly) should it spin? I haven't had chance to oil the spindle etc yet. It spins for around 10 seconds or...
