After say 1+ hours of serious weed raking a tench swim would you normally expect to fish straight away or best left for next day ?

Weed scuppered me today. Only had 1 take, fish on but lost in the weed.

IMO The one fish most capable of dealing if not thriving with fast water surely is barbel. If they get washed downstream in high water then surely absolutly nothing else would survive ?? Is there plenty of fry , bleak and chub still about ? {surely all less comfortable in a very strong flow)...
