Would anybody have the details of anybody that can provide a decent net replacement for a whitlock spoon 32''.
I have tried all the usual people ,like Sharpes of aberdeen ,who supplied the last replacement to no avail.
Ive had the whitlock frame for the best part of 20yrs and still going...
Might be worth looking at the Penn bait runners of which there is a review on this site.
Having used Penn reels in the states for Tarpon i couldn't fault them.
I personally have used Abu Suveran 4000's for the last 14yrs and they are superb, occasionally come up on e-bay but quite pricey.
Have you tried ''Sharpes'' of Aberdeen, they do the whitlock frames and a number of different meshes. Aimed mainly at the salmon anglers but i think they may have what you need.
The last 2 rods that i've bought have been from Peregrine rods, custom built rods to the highest spec.
They have a web site to have a look at but best to give them a call.
Just ordered some of their ultimate feeder mix , as did a mate, I rate this as one of the best on the market.
They have run out of the large elips though. Shame as they were very good as well.
Just got to say that if anyone is contemplating buying tackle form BFW the service is great. I spoke to Andy on the phone on friday afternoon and the items were with me on the saturday morning. Brilliant!!!!
Plus I didn't have to use up loads of fuel to be told by tackle shops that the items...
I recently spoke to a river baliff who informed me that a regular from 'up north' had been using a mix of pigeon conditioner in his feeder. He reckoned it a lot cheeper than fish based feeder mix from tackle shops and seemed to attract the fish.
I've heard that the match boys use it, anyone any...
Having recently veiwed a spool of Shogun Ice line in a local tackle shop I was surprised at its low diameter and almost zero stretch.
Its a co polymer line and research shows the company have a range of colours etc. A japanese company, its used by big game anglers in Australia.
I witnessed a...
The only item that appears to be missing is a keepnet!!!!
I was under the impression that BFW supported good fish care, this wasn't a shining example .
I thought the days of seeing numbers of barbel floating belly up down the River Severn in the evening were a thing of the past. I can see it...
Faulty thermometer
As a few on the site had purchased the Lidl thermometer I thought i'd get one myself.
What a disappointment! I know it was only £3.99 but it was poorly made and was faulty. Took it back and got my money back. I think I'll stick to my alcohol thermoeter I got from a garden...
John Wilson appeal
For all you disbeleivers that otters don't take barbel and other species perhaps you should read John Wilsons appeal on The Bob Roberts site. This is based on facts not heresay.
Abu Suveran
Nobody seems to have mentioned the best engineered reel made!!! The Abu Suveran 4000s.
Not been made for a few years of course but can still be picked up on e-bay, expect to pay £150 upwards for a mint one.
The clutch is unbeleivable, as its built into the middle of the reel, and...
