This puts me in a quandry. I'm taking part in Graham's fish in, in a fortnight with a few other BFW members. It could mean fishing near another member. Should I take a 9mm Uzi or will I get away with a glock17?
Feargal Sharkey is our new best mate. I'm glad a few high profile people are getting involved. My local river (Medway) suffered an 'incident' recently and fish have been killed. The rise in population doesn't help. More people, more shit.
Hi Craig, you're coming to Graham's fish-in in a couple of weeks, if you hang on you can have a look and a 'waggle' of some very nice rods. You could make a decision then.
I can make either date no problem. I can also offer a lift to another angler as long as they chip in for the diesel and don't mind listening to Cream, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd etc. I live on the Surrey/Sussex border.
I've started using Berkley XL new version. 9lb is 0.22. Comes off the spool nicely too. No barbel on it yet though but we live in hope. Some of the chaps use braid.
Mike, I watch 'Monster Carp' too and I don't think there's much casting done as the rigs and bait are 'boated' out. Why people think that the higher the test curve, the further they can cast is beyond me. There's no pleasure in using a rod that's as stiff as a poker. (Not for fishing anyway😁) A...
Most barbel anglers fish with reels that have a freespool/quickdrag facility and also use line about 12lb breaking strain. Carp anglers the same. The only real difference is the rod action. It's horses for courses. Some of the rods advertised as barbel rods wouldn't look out of place on a gravel...
No problem Russ. I used a Trakker Pioneer brolly for years even through the winter. Much easier to use than a bivvy and I could get all my kit under it. Trakker gear is well made.
I wouldn't buy anything off facebook mate. I don't use a bivvy but if I was going t buy one I'd go to a reputable dealer. Too many scammers on facebook.
I have a harrison torrix 11ft 1.75 custom built and it's the dogs dooh-dahs! If your budget allows it you won't be disappointed. Mine was built by Roger at Peregrine rods. Treat yourself!
