What ever my son is using at the time, I nick them! Currently it is Peach & Pepper flavour & I have found the barbel like them as much as the carp do.

Mine are a pair of BFW i-power which have 1.75 & 2lb tips. I polled the 2lb as I probably just about use them more than the lighter tops. I would have liked the opportunity to poll both!

A sack full of drown kittens in the Birmingham canal at Stratford Upon Avon, near the basin.
This was in the 1950's before The canal had been renovated for navigation.
Nice!

Hi,
If anyone buys this reel at the bargain price of £35, there is a Trudex lineguard for sale on eBay.
Combine the 2 & the value would exceed the price of the 2 parts Would be tempted myself but boracic at the moment!

Folks,
Thanks to all who replied, you certainly turned up a few that I hadn't picked up on my search.
I have now ordered a couple of neoprene ones similar to the Wychwood ones as highlighted by Steven. Since doing it I have seen the Caimore one that Pete recommended & I must say that I am...
Hi,
Like most of us I like to keep my rods made up & ready to go. When I use fixed spool rods I use Nash reel on rod pouches in conjunction with tip protectors. This affords good protection to rod & reel, no problem.
Can anyone recommend a reel on rod pouch that fits a 41/4" 'pin that gives...
A very good season with plenty of barbel but managed to catch them at larger sizes. This season 1 in 15 barbel was a double as opposed to over 1 in 30 the last time I had a large number in a season.
The season was capped by breaking my personal best with a cracker of 13.07 beating my...
Paul,
7 years ago I was fortunate enough to buy a secondhand, but unused, Edward Barder Barbus Maximus for around £550. It was a lovely rod to play a fish on and during that summer I had some nice barbel on it in conjunction with my Chris Lythe 'pin on ledger tactics.
I found a very...
Hi John,
Looking at the claim from Andrew from Scotland it must be some really good stuff.
"Three barbel over ten pound and and a ton over five pounds, and that was the first time I used it." Andrew- Scotland.
Therewas me thinking that Scotland was a barbel backwater. I guess I must book...
Hi all,
Just a brief 'thank you' to all of you who contribute to this site & to its owners. I don't submit too many posts, though I avidly read many of those that are posted.
There is a lot of good stuff on here & some that is not so good, although it is much better than it used to be. Lets...
Hi All,
A good year so far!
I have increased my barbel PB to 13.07 & my chub PB to 6.09, both cracking fish! My barbel best had stood at 13.01 for about 9 years so it was a relief that I finally beat it. I had also a lovely 3.01 perch on cane & 'pin.
I would like to beat my zander best...
Hi Clive,
Thanks for that, I will be tracking those though they are a bit more modern than those I am seeking.
Hi David,
These are not modern repro's and probably date from the 60's/70's. Most of them are similar to those made by Harcork & could be Allcocks or similar. Good useable or...
Steve,
Having known and dealt with you for 10 years, I can fully endorse that you have an enviable reputation.
I thought some of the comments & insinuations made previously on this thread were very unfair but hadn't twigged that they had referred to yourself. If I had, I would have posted in...
Hi Clive,
Thanks, I have clocked them but they are a bit too modern for me. I have a pretty full range of Harcorks.
Not too much appears on eBay that appeals, that is why I am hoping some turn up by using this forum. Nothing yet but I live in hope!
I will pay a good price for any float that I...
Hi folks,
October for me is traditionally the start of predator fishing & of course some good barbel fishing if you get warm rain flowing into the rivers.
So, the first week saw me with the pike, zander & perch gear on the river Trent. Some were caught but in truth they weren't shoaling up...
