No, this isn't a "who do you like best?" or celebrity death match question.
I've just watched a recent-ish vid on YouTube with John Bailey talking to John Stephenson from Thomas Turner Antiques about his favourite centrepin reels, and at one point Bailey says (verbatim) "John and I did have...
I'm not in the market for one, just curious (hence asking here rather than the tackle sub-forum) - during my search for a Rapidex 2 (which our very own Mike Window has sorted me out with - thanks again Mike) the Seldex and Seldex 2 kept popping up (along with the more familiar Trudex, of course)...
I can't even trouble the thread poll with mine - 9lb 4oz, caught a couple of years ago from the Bristol Avon. But, I daresay, that probably IS considered as a specimen on the BA these days (acknowledging the record smashed a year or two ago).
I've caught a lot of BA barbel over the years...
Thanks David.
I did spot that one, but barely used/unused and £245 - I can't afford that. I'm looking at well used ones, which (on the very rare occasion they do pop up on eBay) typically sell for £100-150 depending on condition. The same place had another one for £145 recently, but I missed it.
Hi Danny
Not easily to hand (I'm on my work laptop at the moment and I can't copy in or link to images), but it will say The Rapidex ll on the back with the model number 2450. They're quite recent (in relative centrepin terms - 00s I think?) and have a smooth finish.
I already have an old...
Probably a long shot, but anyone got one knocking around they don't want anymore?
Seems that only unused museum pieces tend to pop up with any (relative) regularity, which are way out of my price range. As a user rather than a collector I don't mind one that's obviously been used, as long as...
Hi all
A friend of mine is probably going to be moving to (just north of) Norfolk for a new job this year, and my thoughts are immediately drawn to fishing opportunities. Obviously lots going on around there for most types of fishing, but can anyone tell me if the Wensum still has ANY barbel...
Near Chew Valley lake, BUT I understand there are no fish in there at all now - about 10 years ago there was a problem with the sluice gate and the whole pond drained overnight. In the very very unlikely event any of the fish survived the trip down, they would now be in Chew Valley lake. Last...
Yep, I also totally understand keeping things on the down-low - back in the 90s a mate and I managed to get permission to fish a small farm pond. Though it didn't hold any records, it had a small head of VERY large tench (most of them were into double figures, which was both enormous and...
Despite my hot choc comments upthread, I'm no stranger to the ol' Pot Noodle. I was slightly heartbroken when they did away with my favourite flavour - sausage casserole - a couple of years ago. There was no hint that was a limited edition. Ho-hum.
I am a bit of a strange fish in that I...
Wasn't he also effectively broke and homeless for a few years early on in his angling career?
Incidentally Terry - have you considered getting in on the Terry H. headgear action?
I can heartily recommend Marimba Melt hot choc. Not cheap, and probably not for a 1l flask given how much they recommend to use per cup/mug, but it's superb stuff.
