    Mono hook link

Hi Adam, I use Berkley Trilene xl in 10lb on the middle Trent. It knots well and is durable unlike the low diameter copolymer or pre stretched lines. It catches me plenty of barbel so they obviously don't mind the thickness or stiffness. I do think that Amnesia is too thick and too stiff for...

    Curve shank hooks

My experience exactly of gripz hooks. I rate them very highly and sometimes catch a lot of fish on on just one hook.

    The state of our rivers

    Stewed wheat

I caught some small barbel while float fishing wheat for roach from the Trent, years ago. I have also caught lots of barbel on tares, on float and feeder. It hasn't been the case of barbel eating anything though. On one notable occasion I caught a few barbel on feeder fished maggot then it went...

    Korum compact pod

Banksticks on the Trent. Proof that they exist! Like a tripod, but without the rear leg and having the flexibility to move the front two legs apart when required. An improvement to the tripod really. Don't know how they compare to a sky pod because I still don't know what one is (and don't want...

    Headtorch ?

I have a Fenix hl60r from my sea fishing days. It is rechargeable, waterproof, shock resistant, has lots of different brightness settings, you can check how much charge is left and the battery lasts for ages. It is lightweight even though it has a robust metal body. It also has a 5 year...

    Korum compact pod

You've obviously never watched a river match then. Proper river match anglers know what banksticks are and how to use them, unlike others that fish in carp puddles. 🤣

Ex match fisherman me. I don't even know what one is! 🤔 😂

    Barbel Behaviour

I've noticed some similar barbel behaviour on a big river (the Trent). Regular casting with a feeder (or even a bomb in winter) can often get instant bites. Is this because of the introduction of free bait or is it the moving/ falling hook bait. I have also witnessed large fish being caught...

    Pallatrax hooks

Pallatrax gripz hooks are excellent. I use the wide gape in sizes 10 and 8 and I hardly ever lose a fish to a hook pull.

13ft rods ,love them or hate them ?

Will do Adam. Won't be going in the first week as I'm going to Download festival. I'll need a few days to recover!!

13ft rods ,love them or hate them ?

During my match fishing days I fished with many 12 ft and 13 ft heavy feeder rods. That extra foot really makes a difference with accuracy when targeting the far side of any big river like the Trent. Also agree with Richard. One of the best rods used to to be the Daiwa Amorphous Whisker river...

13ft rods ,love them or hate them ?

13 ft better for long casting on a river in my opinion. Easier to be accurate. You still need some stiffness in the butt section though. Most of my fishing on the Trent is short chuck to middle of the river so I mainly use 12 ft.

    Feeders

A major mistake a lot of anglers make on the Trent is to fish with a feeder that is too light. If it won't hold on the deck then it will roll/drag into the nearest snag. I make sure my feeders are nailed down and as a consequence I don't lose many. Unfortunately, some swims are snag pits and...

    Feeders

Are you selling any Richard? Do you do them in 3oz, 4oz and 5oz? 🤫 😂
