Thanks Nigel, I'd found that site but missed that page. If anyone has actually caught one from the Mayenne that would be interesting - it looks barbelly

I'll be fortuante enough to spend some time in France over the summer on the Mayenne and wondered if anyone could confirm whether it holds barbel. If flows into the lower Loire and there's some in there. Grateful if anyone has any specific knowledge.

The 4000d is a good reel, but for the money, and the price of a spare spool you can have 2 x DL4000FAs which would mean 4 spools and the FA has a much better line clip. I have both and I would say that I would buy the FA over the D given the price difference. Though you can't really go wrong...
Both as new, boxed, comes with waterproof drag, two metal spools, 5 ball bearings, twistbuster etc. Beautiful exceptionally smooth, highly-rated reels. Line cap 200-yds of 10lb.
£180 the pair or £95 each collect from Gloucestershire. Postage at cost - approx £5 each.
