Nice net but as Conrad states the end busts off. I was aware of this from both Conrad and Jon F, so I have replaced the threaded section of mine with stainless steel (glueing a bit of brass dowel in place of the steel roll pin would suffice also) which seems to have worked. There is a good D...
LED Lenser H7R rechargable is one of the best bits of kit i have bought. Not cheap by any standards but worth the extra outlay - I was very hesitant but so glad i took the plunge. Available on Amazon for £38 but i got mine off ebay for just over £35 by waiting a while. It lasts ages per charge...
I stopped using these (and the normal open ended type they do) as they were shattering on entry when throwing to the far side of the Trent. I bought 6 and used them all in one evening session. A good one might last about a dozen or so casts before it would split and eventually I would just wind...
Otters tend to be quite good at finding fish, closely followed by cormorants:D
I was looking at one similar to the humminbird but with twice the range (300ft). How far can the transponders be cast without causing damage? I would like to explore a few places on the far bank of the Trent which...
Good thread Mark.
I currently use Shimano Ultegra XTB's which have a front drag BR and cannot fault them for the purpose of mid to far bank fishing on the Trent. However I would like to know a good smaller front drag BR, but not necessarily just by Daiwa. The Daiwa Quick Drag facility is spot...
"So in a nut shell no I wouldn't ban it, as long as it was used responsibly as a hook length material only, and not in b/strains of ridiculously high proportions, but how would you govern that? "
Not having a go here, but surely the higher the breaking strain the less chance of the cheese...
True Declan:)
That's if the otter is artificially reintroduced again. I am under the impression (rightly or wrongly) the reintroduction schemes were finished years since so any otters appearing on new stretches of water have got there by their own means. If they were still introducing them...
Haven't seen the article so don't know what it says.
I haven't seen any otters on the waters I fish so to be fair haven't seen what they do. With this in mind I am neither for or against them. All i know is that nature has the ultimate say in this argument. If there are sufficient fish stocks...
My edge is going fishing with Jon. Theres that much snap in his feeders that I just get about a 100 yards below him and bobs your uncle!:)
Seriously though, I think it helps to keep off the well beaten track and try somewhere that doesn't get hammered on a regular basis.
Any tips on keeping paste on when fishing at distance? I can manage a gentle lob into the middle of the Trent but like to fish a couple of places where the fish are on the far bank. To date the paste comes off the hook when i try to cast these distances. I have been considering mixing my paste...
Hello it's a long shot but worth a try.
I am after the barbel top section to fit a Daiwa Amorphous Whisker 11/13 ultra heavy feeder rod (harrier or connoisseur).
Anyone out there can help point me in the right direction?
Jim
I have the 3m Gardner Specialist http://www.gardnertackle.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php/pName/specialist-extending-landing-net-handle
Not quite as slim as the Drennan but a still good piece of kit. I was after the Drennan but could not find one in stock local to me so settled on the Gardner...
Had a look at my Korum net today and all seems OK where the mill pin goes through the spreader block and threaded bar. Is it the pin that is busting and letting the threaded section fall out or is it the threaded bar itself that is breaking around the hole for the pin? Its the age old problem of...
The Spro pod is a great piece of kit but is a bit on the large side from what you have specified. It is quite light though and comes in a decent bag so can be carried easily. Incidently Daiwa are now producing an almost identical tripod, the only difference being the top bar has the rod rests...
