round landing net

Not really Barbel related so forgive me . I am after a round landing net , something in the 24 - 28 inch diameter range with a reasonably deep net , say 2 foot drop. Not for barbelling just general stuff, I have a drennan 22 inch net but the net is to shallow for me , plus I have managed to bust it !. Any of you good folks help me out . Thanks in anticipation

Korum do a nice rubberized net in this size range. Abu also make a nice deep nylon net although the front part is straight so not a true round net. Both good have plenty of depth and are good quality. I think they are both about 16 quid too so not that bad a price either.

:)go for the korum rubberised one buddy yuo wont regret it .

The korum net is very nice to use Mike, however they secure the threaded part with a pin through the threaded bar. This weakens the bar which has resulted in 3 of them to my knowledge snapping at the block. One was mine and 2 others belonged to friends of mine. To be fair any korum dealer replaces them free of charge but because of this I can't recommend them.

I use the Korum rubberised net for 'silvers' and stuff, had it about two seasons now and it good.

The Gardner Spoon looks like a decent bit of kit, it has a 2ft deep net too. Here's the blurb from their website:

The 'tear drop’ shape of the hoop will accept the biggest Barbel and large Carp without the problem of round nets that can be difficult to carry.
The rigid frame is strong and can be used with confidence in weedy situations thanks to the quality spreader block and the high grade aluminium used in the frame.
The super soft mesh has a flat, knot-free weave with a depth of 60cm - the optimum depth for scooping and retaining a big fish without it becoming cumbersome.
A superbly strong net that won't let you down.
Fantastic value for money.
Length = 88cm, Width = 65cm (at widest point).

I think it's about 18 quid, so cheap too!

cheers,

Andy

The original Korum design served me well for 2 seasons until i left it on the bank, pole and all! Since then the design has changed and i've heard of a few break as Conrad said.

Mine broke but was replaced immediately.
Replacement still going strong. (Probably because nothing big has been in it for a while.:p)

I've got one of these and although the frame is strong it is a loose fit in the spreader block, locked by 2 tiny self tapping screws. These work loose and even when replaced by bigger self tappers the system is not ideal. I'm now at the point where I'll have to drill right through for a small nut and bolt.

The frame is a good size but I would like the net to be a bit deeper when fishing off high banks.

I agree about the self-tappers but otherwise I've been pleased with this net. I disagree about the depth though. I've been able to rest fish off steep banks and although a little more depth would help in those situations, I think it would would make the net less manageable and it would be harder to stop it snagging the undergrowth, especially when roving.

Had a look at my Korum net today and all seems OK where the mill pin goes through the spreader block and threaded bar. Is it the pin that is busting and letting the threaded section fall out or is it the threaded bar itself that is breaking around the hole for the pin? Its the age old problem of dissimilar metals and corrosion.:(

Ian my net snapped just above the spreader block, the net was brand new it looked like a stress fracture where the frame bends to enter the block.

I'm also on second korum net had problems with spreader block working loose only used it twice ,new net been fine.
