"Grand Max Riverge for me, but to be honest I prefer a normal mono for barbel hooklinks.
Been meaning to look at riverge soft plus which I think may be more up my alley for barbel, but not got round to it and concerned over abbrasion / toughness. "
Hi Darren - What mono do you use?
Matt
Yes it's a shame about CAT. The articles used to be 6 page long 'diary' style pieces, which you could learn all sorts from.
I remember buying it for the 1st time and thinking how much better it was than the other monthly tackle catalogues, but now it seems to be turning into them.

Hi All
What areas of the river do roach prefer? After watching "Catching the Impossible" and seeing pictures of large roach in the angling press I think I am getting seduced by the lure of a large redfin!
Living in the North East I probably wont get to see anything huge but I would still...
I asked in my original post if anyone had used the T7 baits before and what they thought of them. I wasn't looking for the 'latest wonder bait', although I am fairly new to barbel fishing I realise that wonder baits don't exixt.
Because the stretch I fish has quite a low population of barbel...
Thanks for all the responses.
So if bait is not that important and I was to go with a bog standard boilie, straight off the shelf, what should I go for?
Matt
Hi
I was thinking of giving these 2 baits a try after reading some good things about them.
I was wondering if anyone had used them and what they thought of them?
For hookbaits should I use the Lamprey Dumbells or go for the Boilies?
Thanks
Matt
Cracking fish mate, bet your over the moon. I was hoping to have a try for my first Tees pike this winter but up to now time/conditions seem to be aginst me. Still time before the season ends though.
Well done
Matt
I dont know to be honest mate it was about a year ago, I just searched for cage feeders on ebay and came across them. (You have to filter out loads of budgie feeders though!)
Matt
The feeders from www.cagefeeders.com are really good quality. Bought some a while ago from there ebay shop and was well impressed. Never knew they had their own website.
Matt
Andreas - maybe it was just bad superglue. I bought some from a pound shop a while ago and the pellets would not stick. Not all Superglue is Super it seems!
Matt
I also use the Ruckbag but have been thinking of swapping it for something smaller.
Has anyone got any reccomendations? How small can you get away with? I can get my gear down to the bare minimum, but I like to carry plenty of water in the summer and a flask in the winter, as well as enough...
So if you were to use this rig with a swivel or rig ring, would your mainline go straight through to the short braid hook link? How would you stop the feeder/lead?
Would you just use a swivel and beads as in most other rigs?
Matt
Dave - I meant safe as in would one material cut into the other.
Philip - What do you mean by 'purpose made' materials? I dont want to use coated braids as I want to start and use a long hooklength, around 3ft. Using coated braid for this would mean a spool would only last 5 minutes!
