    braided hook links

George, Powerpro is very buoyant and not the best for hook lengths really. In all honesty, most braids float to some degree when tank tested, and I've tank tested lots over the years, even when they profess to be sinking braids! Some are better than others. 99.9% of the time, I...

The Only Way To Catch A Barbel?

Not good Mike. You've not done yourself or friend Keith any favours with a post like that mate. Many good anglers/lads frequent sites like this, not all are lucky enough to have the opportunity to catch such sized fish, but does that necessarily make them any less an angler? Daz.

    Hook Pattern

I've used them loads when tenching, certainly never experienced any problems to give me any concerns re the hook pattern? Come to think of it, I've never really found tench to fall off any hook very often for that matter? Maybe I'm just lucky, always better to be lucky than good - as they...

    Calling Float makers.

Adrian, Lobs are quite a heavy bait in themselves, but I think a 1-2g float should do the job. You obviously need a float that will support the weight if you're fishing off bottom, not so essential if you're hard on the bottom perhaps. Daz.

    Keith has done it again!

    Jolly well done Keith.

    Calling Float makers.

Adrian, Pole floats certainly don't have to be limited to use with a pole mate! Pole floats are great for delicate baiting species on a running line, rod and reel set-up. I've used them for years, for crucian & rudd fishing mainly. Obviously, there is a limit, as they certainly...

    Hook Pattern

Jon, Yes, I use the Mustad Eyed Specialist Long Points when a small strong hook is required. Not exclusively, as obviously, no single hook pattern will suit every situation or bait presentation. But find them VERY strong for their gauge and size, and as you mentioned, very cheap. Tend to use...

    Back pack

I have three of the rucksacks mentioned by posters so far. Bobs - 35L Nash Nomad (mki) - super rucksack, shame they stopped production on this one! Use it occasionally for river work still, but mostly use it for tenching or shortish carp sessions these days. The (newish) 20L Nash Ruckbag...

    Fish teeth identification

Andy, Almost certainly chub mate, but you only have one half of the set. That said, they don't actually form a 'top' and 'bottom' set of chompers. They work side-by-side and crush food items against a boney plate in the roof of the throat. I have a pair taken from the remains of a...

    Shimano help please?

I had the same problem of a 'silent' free spool with the baitrunner engaged. It wasn't on a Shimano reel tho. I took the reel apart to find the small spring steel (click pawl) broken inside. This simply 'rides' on one of the gear cogs and gives you the clicking spool in free run mode...

    Chris Yates Rod/Reel Collection

"Always amazes me at the way in which barbel take the bait - no nibbles and knocks just a large yank of the rod. Love it!" Get ready Aaron....In coming!!!:D Daz.
