    which loop knot ?

I use the figure of 8 with flourocarbon. I find it reliable as long as it tightens correctly, make sure you can see the 'figure of 8' - it sometimes takes a couple of attempts, then I always give the hooklength including the hook a few good pulls and a dab of Superglue to prevent slipping...

Advice needed for custom power float rod

Not new or custom built however, built to a standard that cannot be surpassed. The carbon still is the best available, made by Toray who also owned the factory that handmade the blanks in Japan. The cork is the finest Portuguese, rings are the best titanium Fuji's (these are very strong and...

Advice needed for a fixed spool float fishing reel for trotting.

As already stated by others the Cadence CS7 4000 is a great reel for what you want and as great price. I have used them for most of my fishing for some years after replacing my old Shimanos and see no reason to look elsewhere.

    Floats

Hi Etienne, great to meet you and thanks for the jar of honey and glad you like the floats! I'll look forward to hearing how you get on with them and it would be nice to have a fish together sometime. Cheers Andy

    Floats

I also found it strange that lying on it was best despite being contra to advice. I now sleep sat up most of the night as that no longer works. My GP has the injury caused by cricket, a mate of mine from 'floater fishing for carp', carp fishing obviously bad for you :p

    Floats

    Floats

Yes that's exactly it, the pain at night can be excruciating and means a decent night is never on the cards. Good luck with the op and keep me posted as to how it goes! Cheers Andy

    Floats

Thanks Derek, it’ll be OK eventually! Why don’t you let me know when you want to fish and just cancel if the river is out? Recently winter has been good for the most part for either barbel or chub as we haven’t had much snow.

    Floats

Hi Derek, good to hear from you. I have no plans for a BFW fish-in but we could sort one. I would suggest in the winter TBH. You and your brother are welcome anytime just message or call me. Both knees are functioning brilliantly, I cannot believe the change they have made, no peg is too far :)...

    Harrison Torrix 12ft 1.25lbs T.C

I have one, it's a great rod and no problem with double figure barbel. I bought it some years ago off the recommendation of two well respected anglers. I've had barbel to just under 14lb from the Warwickshire Avon only using 1.75's in winter with heavier leads. I now use a Cadence 1.25lb which...

    River carp in deep water

I've been doing similar on the Warwickshire Avon. I was recommended tiger nuts and hemp by a couple of guys. Easy to use and avoids bream. Nearest I have come to actually catching one this season was late afternoon on floating crust. Just got a few feeding before another club member came...
