Treating yourself.

So very sorry Simon. The pain you are going through at the moment must be just awful, but things WILL get better. Be kind to yourself and remember that's it ok to not be ok.

As others have suggested, perhaps make some memories by visiting places and possibly meeting people (other like minded souls).
When I retired 5 years ago now I thought about it and decided I wanted a few angling adventures. My aspirations were/are modest. I live on the south coast miles from any good river fishing. I didnt want to spend all of the time I have left slogging it out on the Wessex rivers so booked a few days on the middle Severn. I now go regularly. I catch some Barbel, have met some nice, friendly people and haven't looked back. This is something I couldn't do when working. I think for me that's the answer, experience something I couldn't do during my working life.
Rods are nice but how many do you really need? They all do the same thing and any feeling of satisfaction is short lived I find!
Good fishing! 🙂
