Spoppers

You say it's "one of the most efficient and accurate methods of bait delivery".
But it's not .
The most efficient and accurate methods of bait delivery is the angler.

Yeah with a spopper as their baiting tool….sorry mate but completely disagree with you on this one. Spopper is far superior to a spomb on a lake imo….simply because it delivers small areas of bait very quickly and accurately which can mimic your bait and pva bag presentation very well; and a method not many others angler use, preferring the usual bog standard carpet baiting with a spomb
 
I won’t go barbel fishing without one and the same respect I didn’t go barbel fishing without a bait dropper before Spoppers came on the scene.

They cast like arrows, sink like stones and can deposit a lot of bait on the bottom very quickly and accurately.

If yours are opening prematurely or not opening at all, there is probably something wrong with the device.

My personal favorite is the 2oz mini spopper. It’s absolutely brilliant for discreetly putting out a small handful of bait with minimal disturbance in one cast and rest.

Anyone that can use them effectively, will definitely get improved results from their use

@Richard Isaacs makes top quality ones….the shop on this site sometimes stocks them (maybe ask @Andy Frances when next in) look on eBay too, converted fox spombs but very expensive. Take my advice though and don’t but the Korum ones - they don’t last
Paul Fisk on Facebook I believe also does them but not used his myself (although his feeders are great)

That makes sense??, lug a load of rock salt about , wait for it do what it needs to do, when with a spopper I can open the tin, and be accurately baiting in minutes. I won't mention caster.
I'll pass on that thanks Jim. As always, everyone entitled to their opinion and I do use PVA socks quite a bit but spoppers definitly have a place in my barbel fishing.

As an aside I'd like to add that IMHO (based on fact, not sales blurb) that, in using rock salt and 'sea salt' in preference to much less expensive common or garden 'table' salt, you are being conned. Both sea salt and rock salt are over 99% sodium chloride (NaCl ... 'salt'), and the rest is basically impurities. Using table salt is much more efficient as it has smaller particle size, and pours better (especially if it has an anti-caking agent added). It's a fad, a con, that's come from a cordon bleu cooking con.
Table salt and rock salt and sea salt all equal NaCl (but if you think your fish 'n chips taste better with sea salt, well .........)

I can vouch for Richard's mini spoppers. Absolutely brilliant for rivers like the Havon, I've been using them for 3-4 years now and they are awesome. I doubt I will ever use my thamesley bait droppers anyone. The mini spoppers are just brilliant for under-arming out bait, they are like darts and there is so much less surface displacement compared to the Thamesley. I wouldn't go fishing with casters/maggots without one.
