Spoppers

I've attached a couple of pictures of the Kings Weir Fishery ones, just in case anyone is interested.

As an aside I'd like to add that IMHO (based on fact, not sales blurb) that, in using rock salt and 'sea salt' in preference to much less expensive common or garden 'table' salt, you are being conned. Both sea salt and rock salt are over 99% sodium chloride (NaCl ... 'salt'), and the rest is basically impurities. Using table salt is much more efficient as it has smaller particle size, and pours better (especially if it has an anti-caking agent added). It's a fad, a con, that's come from a cordon bleu cooking con.
Table salt and rock salt and sea salt all equal NaCl (but if you think your fish 'n chips taste better with sea salt, well .........)
A few years back I attended a Barbel Society meetings in Tewkesbury my home town. The brilliant Dave Mason was a guest speaker and he advocated to only use rock salt, and or 'cattle lick' salt to boiles as an additive; reason being Barbel especially post spawning crave it.
I was intrigued but never did use the stuff but I get his theory.
Not disputing your knowledge Terry, I know you have a background in such, and your comments have awoken my interest in the subject.
Atb Tel.

I'd Agree with Terry about the salt.
The Kings weir spopper has the pin made the same way as Christophe's originals.
BFW have some good spoppers, Possibly made by Eddie Bray I have some of his as well. They work just fine

I was there too that night Neil. Dave is a legend and thankfully still fishing🙏
His rationale about it's use, especially post spawning is still very relevant now👍

I believe the kings weir spoppers are exactly as per Christophe’s latest design. Certainly the same case and the same pin and the lead is fitted the same way.

Before his passing he made quite afew but had Dave Chambers name moulded into them, who when with us also played a huge part in the initial design of the original spopper with Christophe.

These were or certainly looked exactly like the one’s kings weir are now doing. Christophe was a huge fan of the Lower lea weir and I’m sure he’ll be very happy to see his Spoppers continue through them.
