I'm wondering how instant pellets would be for Roach on a stretch of River that doesn't get fished much.
Not as instant as bread or maggots. ;)

Little tale that still amuses and pisses me off in equal measures.

A good mate and myself were at a local stretch of the Tees a few years ago, sat pretty close to each other. I was fishing liquidised bread in an open end feeder with a small pinch of flake on the hook hoping for a decent roach. My mate was fishing halibut pellets hoping for a barbel, I guess you can see where I'm going, he had a 2lb 14oz roach on a 14mm hali' so pellets can be quite instant for roach;)

Nice trip today on a bit of the BA that I haven’t fished before. Lots of decent sized roach - probably more than I caught in the whole of last season. Unfortunately lost something that felt big but roachy and broke the 1/2oz tip on my bomb rod when the line got twiddled round it while unhooking a trout. I’ll be back for more when there’s some colour in the water.

Had a few hours at one of my clubs still waters. I appeared to be the only Wag and Mag man surrounded by carp bashing boys. I had to take what swim was available which had a cross wind blowing fallen willow flowers on the surface. Had fish from the start, small pristine roach. Rung the changes on depth and feed and eventual connected with few better fish. Had a pint if maggots and fished until I had used them. A very pleasant few hours.
