To be honest Robert, a lot of the rivers on my list don't mean anything to me, they were fished a time or two on family holidays as a kid. Sometimes not within the rules...Only been back fishing for the last few years. Life gets in the way sometimes. Back now only really fished four rivers. Spend time with grown up sons fishing one love the rivers one carp fishing so I’ve got feet in both camps.

A slightly irrelevant (and probably pretty boring aside ), but I was shown an old map (early 1800's I think) by an old farmer near Werneth Low, which showed the Mersey extending all the way up to Hollingworth, e.g. what is now known as the Etherow. And what we now now as the Goyt from watersmeet to the confluence of the Etherow was also labelled as the Mersey. E.g. the Goyt ended at the confluence with the Etherow.Bristol Avon
