Rivers I have fished

Graham Elliott

Senior Member & Supporter
Going on from the ' variety" and club tickets thread, interested to know the scope of BFW river adventures.

I will start it off with...

Kennet
Loddon
St. Patrick's Stream
Potts Stream
Thames
Mole
Wharf
Swale
Trent
Hants Avon
Dorset Stour
GU Canal
Taff
Wye
Severn
Frome.
Itchen
Test
Bristol Avon
Gade
Colne
Blackwater

Lots of missed out upper UK ones that I'm sure others can add. Probably missed one or two out. Callum just reminded me of 2 more!)

Yarra (Aus.)

Not as impressive as you guys but for a man under 40 it’s one or two.

Crickey. Missed the Warks Avon off mine!.

I've only included the watercourses that wear the "river" title. However, quite a few becks I've fished are bigger than some of the rivers listed. The Lune, Wiske, Bain, Banwell and Yeo are barely worthy of their titles as rivers. I've no doubt that I'll have fished a few more rivers that I've simply forgotten.

Eden
Lune (County Durham version)
Tees
Swale
Wiske
Bain
Ure
Yorkshire Ouse
Nidd
Wharfe
Derwent (Yorkshire)
Hull
Ribble
Dee
Trent
Witham

Warwickshire Avon
Bristol Avon
Thames
Windrush
Banwell

Crickey. Missed the Warks Avon off mine!.
Had some really enjoyable days on the BAA stretch at Marlcliffe, lovely stretch of river, with some very engaging fishing. Had a 12.6 first cast on my first trip to the river, never bettered it, but still had some memorable days out. Heart breaking to see to the damage that was done during lockdown.

You surely must have fished the Ivel Rich? Your neck of the woods isn't it.

I'd forgotten about the G Ouse - fished it for perch a few times on a free stretch near Stony Stratford. Remember packing up at 5pm, jumping into the car and getting into Old Trafford just in time to see Rooney score the opener 4 mins in. Broke some laws on that drive back..

The Warwickshire Avon, Nene and Teme are high on the list of rivers I’d like to have a go at for the Barbel. As is the Frome for Grayling.
