Fox duo-lite extra 11ft 1.75lb. Had it for years and it suits me well.

I noted what you said some months ago about these 'sticks' coming into their own when playing 14lb+ barbel. Well when I have my first 14lb+ on trundled meat I'll get back to you on that oneStick!!!!!! Oh my word Terry go wash yer mouth out with soap and water

Dunno Rich, 12? 14? ...it's all a bit like a shag was to Robert Powel on The Detectives14……. Did I say that ?? 12’s are pretty fun on it too
I’m all seriousness it is one of those rods that you need to get the cork bending before you appreciate fully how good they are.Dunno Rich, 12? 14? ...it's all a bit like a shag was to Robert Powel on The Detectives
Totally agree, if I can get away with it (and I usually do) I use my Harrison 1.5lb but I also love my original Greys Prodigy Barbel 1.75lb and have never used anything heavier for Barbel. I fish the Hants Avon, Dorset Stour and the Wye but have never fished the Trent or Severn but hope to do so soonDepends on the river and water state . Smaller river at normal level, cane every time . Bigger river / further to chuck, Harrison S/U Avon or my trusty Fox XS Barbel duo , raging flood, my battered old Bruce Ashby carp rod . To pick one , it would have to be the Fox. I know, I know ,I didn't really answer the original question properly . It was easier when I was a kid , all I had was an 8ft tank aerial fly rod , that did for everything !
My Ole chap built a rod from a tank aerial bought from a market stall somewhere in Essex. The guy went under the name of Sugar and traded under the name of Amstrad. Wonder what ever happened to himDepends on the river and water state . Smaller river at normal level, cane every time . Must admit to really liking that particular 'Stick' Terry . Looks especially good with the Rolling Pin.I noted what you said some months ago about these 'sticks' coming into their own when playing 14lb+ barbel. Well when I have my first 14lb+ on trundled meat I'll get back to you on that one

He went on to make the worst hi fi if that's what you could call it ....not joking when I say over 80% of that tat failed within months. He made all his money I believe manufacturing Sky dishes, and was Knighted. The ZX Spectrum wasn't a bad bit of tech at the time I vaguely recall. He went on to make the worst hi fi if that's what you could call it ....not joking when I say over 80% of that tat failed within months. Bloody good salesman though, he reckons.

My favorite rod is the Harrison 1.25 Avon rod as it is an absolute pleasure to play fish on but it ain’t got the guts to stop a proper one in some of the small snaggy rivers I fish and there for the 1.75 Torrix would definitely be my weapon of choice for 1 barbel rodI wonder if we are all answering the same question e.g. 'If you could only use one rod on every occasion you went to catch Barbel'
Not what is your favourite rod?
My favourite rod would be the 1.75 interceptor. But it would be useless on the Trent in anything other than light flows. But my Chimera 3 would be overkill on a smaller river like the Havon or Wavon. So as an all-rounder if I could only ever use one rod then the compromise would be the Chimera 2.
