Motivation.

Makes me wonder how many anglers if they could, upsticks and relocate home to be near the middle and tidal trent to get almost guaranteed decent barbel fishing.I haven't even had a session this season yet and will only venture out to the Thames when it's bang on Barbel time,so been busy enjoying some roach dace chub perch angling on the river.
I live in marlow, but normally travel to the middle severn, either get accommodation for a couple of nights or sleep in the car for a night, have really struggled up there this season and the journey puts me off,the Thames is only a few minutes from me and dont particularly enjoy fishing overnight, but having to fish right near the foot path is a pain, with dog walkers, all and sundry wanting to ask how your doing and what with boats, canoes, paddle boarders and now even all the bleeding wild swimmers its a real pain in the arse and really puts me off☹

The only time I can't be bothered or have little motivation is if I've had a really tough day with my lad who is autistic and it drains the motivation from me. But usually when I'm luckily to get the opportunity for an evening session or night session I take it! 😉👌
As Gavin said though I do think of others that are not as fortunate and unable to get on the bank! Sometimes I need to give my head a shake and appreciate what I have! 😊

Well I bought a house in Ludlow so I could fish the Teme more often, 12 years later I only fish the Teme a couple of times a season and mostly fish the Wye and Severn, you never know what’s around the corner, enjoy it while you can.

Yes nightmare.. far too busy. You'd be better off joining one of the clubs with stretches with no public access, especially nightfishing.

Certainly at 70 next week my swim selection is reduced. No 1 Mile walks to swims.

I have noticed that I am definately not so stable on high banks also.

But I have found on all my local waters clubs with parking next to the rivers.

I have very rarely night fished anyway apart from Trips at distance, and only places I feel relatively safe.

I've just remembered my 'Winter Motivation Tactic' 🤔
About 3 years ago I was celebrating my best friend's birthday in a pub on the way home from fishing. It was fairly local, off the beaten track, and we were having a few and playing pool. On the way back from the loo I missed a step, went right over on my left ankle and went flat on the floor. I was pretty sure I'd broken it, but with ice and wet towels from behind the bar I managed to finish my beer, and the game (I didn't want to spoilt her day and, well, 50p is half a quid eh!). So on getting home (5 miles, all the way in 2nd gear😂) it was a bucket of iced water and lashings of codeine.
Well with me only able to limp I ended up putting on over 7kgs, so bought a treadmill and a 10kg weight vest, and all through the winter I did between eight and ten 7 minute sessions a day** on the treadmill, with the front of it propped up on house bricks to give it the steepest incline possible. I lost 10kgs in under 3 months, got really fit, and strengthened my ankle muscles (to support the break ...yeah, yeah, I know, I should have gone to hospital but ....)
*** My 'Winter Motivation Tactic' was, and will be this winter .... if I go fishing then I don't have to do my hour on that ba$tard treadmill that day. Works for me 🤣😂🤣

:D :D :D
