Never really had that problem mate and Chris's 32" net is not over deep,( just about right to rest a fish in ) but each to their own :)

do you reakon he would do me a 28 or 30inch net lads cheers rob

Ive been using a fox pole that i bought about 3 years ago not cheap but extends and locks to about 10 feet(very useful on the Wye) and a gardner spoon-no problems to glue in the screws and the whole thing is spot on

I had an abu folding pan net until Thursday last week. Was a great concept, but the arms were not strong enough and constantly bent. It all became too much for them, and one snapped just above the spreader whilst a 4lb chub was being landed.

Cheers,

Tim

I've been using the Drennan Super Specialist with a Gardner Barbel Spoon this season. Neither are perfect, the Gardner net needs the screws superglueing and the Drennan handle does need a little attention to keep it maintained. There's nothing out there that I know of that I'd rather have.

The first I had was a bit dodgy, I returned it and the replacement has been excellent for the last few years. I've also come across nothing stronger, well worth the money.

My first post BTW, I'll go and look for somewhere to properly introduce myself:eek:

drennan 2.8m mega carp landing net handle and the korum 27" specimen spoon for me. the top bit of the handle is removable to ease handling up banks and there's a second thread under it if you need it. i use the top as a handle for my baiting spoon which works well too

i like the 36in middy 30plus camo landing net, i find it sinks nicely in the water and is perfect for resting fish, its strong and lightweight, only downside i can find is its hard to get the bars out of the spreader block but that could just be me, personally wouldnt be without mine
tight lines all
jerry

Hi Jerry, looks a good net. Do you know how deep the net is?

Thanks
Paul

hi mate
its about 2ft deep give or take a couple of inches, it sits nice even in shallower swims, the net was originally reccomended to me by an ea officer and barbel angler for the reasons of resting fish and the way the net actually sinks instead of floating about like some do
take care

i got the middy iq barbel net like jerry , but i personaly think its too deep

for me it needs to be around 8 inches shallower

No need for a deep net Jerry i've seen them tiddlers you keep catching:eek:

Just got the Chris Brown 32" barbel rover net. Def not cheap but it seems like a pukker piece of kit with lifetime guarantee. It has a better finish than some rods i've seen ! Quite heavy but very sturdy, had a 17lb mirror in it Sat night and it coped easily.

I just rang Drennan today and they are sending me free of charge replacement parts (the locking mechanism and end cap)for my Super Specialist twist lock landing net handle. Excellent service from them, we'll see how long it takes me to lose them again ! Meantime I'll contine to put the new Chris Brown net to the test.

Got the Chris brown net last week and used it on the wye over the weekend, firstly it is a good looking bit of kit and seemed well made, but I had 3 fish get there dorsal fin caught in the mesh of the net so it will be returned this week

Thats my main reason i prefer the rubberised net on the Korum Barbel spoon.
