Hook choice???

Im curious as to which hook patterns you guys use and why?

I have always used Korda Wide gape hooks, but think im going to change to a straight point hook this season, something like the Korum Specimen hooks or Drennan Barbel hooks.
I’ve always used drennan specialist hooks for most of my barbel fishing the hook hold on them are solid hardly lost fish on them they landed me a RR too so carnt complain lol

I too can vouch for banktackle hooks in a size 10 , once there in there in !
this was no PB haha
I'll second that Kevin.Got this Bank tackle size 8 embedded on the Thames at 2am last winter. Drove home with it, snipped it half way down the shank, pushed it through until the point appeared, then pulled it through with the forceps 😟

I use the bank tackle wide gapes in 10s but I find they are a bit big for 10mm baits, perfect for 12mm boilies though.
My go to pellet hook is now the owner c5x in 10 or 12, very strong but slightly smaller pattern than bank. Available on ebay
C5x is a brilliant hook.

It is/was similar to the Pallatrax ‘hook’.

I have used a couple of Bank Tackle patterns and agree that they come up very big.

I have used the ebay chinese ones and bank tackle hooks all good

but I just feel better with a top quality hook with a brilliant reputation and one that has never come remotely close to letting me down

read the description of each of the two hooks in the links below !

If Carlsberg made hooks !

I used the Drennan SS barbel hooks for years, the straight point and odd sizes perfect for casters and maggots. Then I started to notice how ridiculously quickly the points were blunting or burring. Maybe I've been unlucky with a few bad batches, but they don't seem as good as they used to be? I've still got loads of the 14's, 12's and 11's in stock, out I've haven't used one for about 3 seasons.
