Exclusive Wye Syndicate

I belonged to the Wasing syndicate on the Kennet and this was gated and padlocked and there was never a problem. Is it totally unfeasible to have portaloos every so often? Maybe it is, but on well run fisheries night fishing is not usually a problem. The point of it is Adam, a long trip is unlikely to be worthwhile for just a few hours fishing unless people are either going to sit in their cars for hours on end or pay for expensive accomodation. My work requires me to be CRB checked so that is not a problem, but I've never heard of it being a requirement to nigh fish before :(

CRB to fish, it's fishing, not looking after KIDS!, i've heard it all now.
it's april the 1st soon, that's got be it...lol

Coops, grow up will you? Putting down others or trying to cause the downfall of others will not make you feel better about yourself in the long run, it's only a short term thing.

Night fishing - everyone happy for a CRB check then? Volunteers required to help sort this one, along with human sh!t picking duties following a busy weekend of overnighters.

Also, when the rangers/keepers/police are out in the night looking for poachers, vandals, thieves, kiddy fiddlers etc, how do we determine the light in the distance, in the middle of nowhere, to be an angler? Suggestions welcome.

Its Patrick if you please! Seems a perfectly reasonable suggestion to those who travel from a far. Crb check no problems on that front. As for picking up human excrement that is surely down to the standard of anglers you enlist isn't it? Who's trying to bring downfall to others? I merely said that A. The Wye and Usk are expensive for a day ticket (and I apologise as this isn't that club) And B. That night fishing would be more alluring. You need to relax you seem very uptight.
Regards Patrick

Think Adam needs a litle slack cutting as he has been getting stick on a few forums. The other side of the coin is some of the questions are more than reasonable, particularly regarding night fishing but it does not seem to widely avaialbe on the Wye anyway.
Best of luck with the syndicate Adam, not fished at Bibs but Symonds Yat is a lovely area, better when the canoes have knocked off for the day though.

Rangers, keepers and police can determine that light in the distance by investigating that light in the distance. The aim of a poacher, vandal, thief or erm.....kiddy fiddler?? Is surely to be undetected, throwing light on the matter will surely exacerbate any human intervention by curiosity?
Is there really a problem with paedophilia in The shire by the riverside?? I do hope not.

I'm guessing you are not familiar with the Wye, It can rise and fall 15 feet in 24 hours. Any portaloos would be in Chepstow before you could get the lorry down to move them.

Well on flood days that will save the poo patrol!

In all seriousness,, the amount of canoes coming down thro the Biblins from spring to mid winter,(not just summer) makes fishing from late morning to about 4-5pm less than enticing.

Therefore early evening 5pm (hire canoes have to be back by a certain time) onwards is the best time to really enjoy Biblins without the muppets in canoes disturbing the river.

So I would hope for a reasonable outcome regarding fishing into and after dark.
I would not however be in favour of "all nighters" and bivvies for what its worth.

The whole of the stretch both banks, including the campsite is open to the public 24/7 to walk, run, ride, cycle, enjoy etc.
Gates restrict the cars only.

Cant help but feel even a locked portaloo would soon get unwanted attention from the nerds if one was suitably sited and fixed down

Well, reading other posts, maybe portaloos wouldn't work, and maybe night fishing is impracticle. But as Mark suggests, a set time like 11.00 pm would seem to be a reasonable compromise. But Adam is clearly doing all he can to put a syndicate together and if those are the rules then potential members either abide by them or don't join. I like night fishing but can manage without it if the venue is close to home but a 70 mile journey, at least in winter, would not be worthwhile.

Adam, I agree I don't think all nighters and bivvies is what we are asking for but as suggested 11pm in summer and say 9pm in winter would be a good compromise for those that have a long way to travel.

Couldn't agree more Cliff, I'm not keen on doing overnighters as you describe but do love to fish late into the evening. 11pm would be great if achieveable with the powers to be......

I think any rules and regulations would be better discussed in private amongst the membership short list rather than on an open forum. For what its worth the current syndicate I belong to has virtually no rules as they are totally unneccessary due to the experienced and committed nature of its members.

wouldn't it be nice if everywhere was like that:)

I don't see what's wrong with merely discussing it Richard? Nobodys making demands, forums are for discussion after all.

The syndicate you belong to sounds good but I think the difference with this particular Wye stretch is the amount of non anglers that use it. This could obviously have implications regarding any rules.

Ian,

Its up to the anglers what they make of any situation. From my perspective if angling was run by anglers for anglers and we got rid of the idiots amongst our ranks who spoil it for everyone else then this is what it could be. Why not aim for quality rather than quantity................

"quality rather than quantity..............."

Mmmmm,,but how ???

As for open discussion on forum I am sure Adam and his partner will be looking in occassionally to see how things develope and if a few seeds are sown with this thread whats the harm ?
