That would be very true Ade...but for a couple of little points. One notable exception apart, these things are not historical happenings as you are trying to imply....in fact some of them are still going on now. Another point is that none of these revelations would ever have come to light at all were it not for some extremely persistent and inspired investigative journalism....and not a few whistleblowers, many of whom suffered greatly as a result of trying to draw attention to the horrors they had witnessed.
The downfall of those few who now have their heads on the block didn't happen because things suddenly got better...it happened because in some instances the avalanche of evidence got too huge for even the government to carry on pretending all was well. They didn't get better...they got caught
So yes...a few wrongdoers have now been offered up in the hope that they will be enough to put the lid back on...and they may well be right
All in the past Ade? Some of the people in top positions while these human tragedies were taking place are STILL in those positions, and still lying through their teeth and trying to cover things up. And the vast majority of those responsible will NEVER be named and shamed.
What WOULD make it better is if we are now offered watchdogs who haven't had all their teeth pulled out
That would help a heck of a lot.
Don't forget Ade...I have children and grandchildren out there, and great grandchildren not too far off...and who knows when the 'care' home will become my new place of residence
I REALLY want things to get better, trust me on that....I aint being a miserable old git just for the hell of it
