Angling Trust

I support the Angling Trust and agree with their line of reasoning in their paper submitted on our behalf. If all of our fellow anglers could behave themselves then I would be hopeful of a positive outcome. However, having read numerous responses to the AT proposals on social media we may as well take a shotgun to one's own foot. A lot of people arguing the toss about the 'no keepnet' proposal and the 15m separation. Why on earth would people object to that other than if you wanted to fish matches which goes against the ethos of the submission.
If the stable door gets opened then I'm pretty sure that many of our fellow anglers will quickly demonstrate that they cannot be trusted to show self-discipline and adhere to the agreement. If angling subsequently gets banned again as a result then it will be a whole lot harder convincing HMG the second time around. Despite the great efforts and sacrifice of the majority out there, our self-restraint is being undermined by the actions of a minority and I fully expect that to continue.

I am beginning to lose respect for the BBC, I agree their reporting be it the virus Brexit, Boris whatever is so skewed it becomes painful to watch. But the underlining truth is that this virus is no sham and Hospitals have been put under tremendous strain, thankfully the situation is easing, and to undo all the good work now, would be criminal.

Mark, you seem very fixed in your opinions, I do not know where you live , or if you have any personal contact with anybody personally involved in this issue.

I live in a small village, we have only had one confirmed death, I did not know the deceased, to all intents and purposes this lockdown has not unduly affected my day to day existence, thus I can see anybody in my living situation thinking the whole thing is hyped out of all proportion

Things change though when it is more personal. I am not going into this much more, save to say that my son and sister are in the “ front line” and my sisters son, my nephew was diagnosed with C19 yesterday, he lives alone, neither his mother, nor anybody else can see him at the moment for obvious reasons . The worry for my family is obvious.

The lighthearted video of NHS workers dancing was probably made to ease their situation, as indeed the Afghan video probably was. It is easy to see why.
I am not going to respond any further, you have your views, I have mine, I can prove my views from personal experience.

Although the discussion has been good with people expressing their views , for a barbel site , and more importantly the Barbel Talk page perhaps it's best to keep it on subject 🙂.

We have already had a similar thread on the social board , and that had a few people reporting posts , because people can have strong views either way .

Let's see what happens on Thursday , but as it stands there is still 6 weeks of the closed season left , so we are getting a bit premature 🙂

Hi David
I live in a very densely populated city ' Birmingham' I also work for (now) a biggish company 500 plus workers.
I have 6 members of my extended family in the NHS all of whom are working at 2 of the largest hospitals in the west Midlands.
All said people I have mentioned have witnessed nothing out of the ordinary at their respective places of work,other than the need for PPE being made compulsory.

There are no healthy people dying. The death toll is even less than the seasonal flu. You can check the GOV website on that.

The problem isn't a virus it's a massive smoke screen for something far more sinister.

Do you think Eddie large died of corona virus? He may have tested positive with corona virus because being vulnerable he probably had a flu shot. He actually was suffering from heart disease. The flu can and does knock you off your feet when you're compromised. The immune system is key,but we're not advised to keep that in check are we? No....there's no money in healthy people for big pharma is there?

I’m not sure that’s right. The UK had averaged 17000 deaths per year from ‘flu in the last 5 years, we’re past 28000 in only two months. The numbers are eventually likely to be much higher as well - the way flu deaths and coronavirus deaths are calculated are different at the moment.

I don’t see how the NHS can’t be under a huge amount of strain considering the huge number of hospitalized people needing specialist care in such a short space of time.

You are incorrect to say there are no healthy people dying.
We are not advised to keep our immune system in check, Mark? How do you come to that conclusion? I have certainly heard of the expression a doctor a day keeps the apples away, but if you haven't heard anyone or read anything extolling the virtues of a good diet and plenty of exercise, then I don't know where you been. Perhaps on a conspiracy theorists website?
Is there anything to say that not everywhere has to be like the 2 hospitals you speak of?

I probably didn’t make myself clear, the massively increased capacity in critical care beds is the only reason why the NHS hasn’t been overwhelmed. There is also evidence that people who should be in hospital are choosing not to go in, it has helped with the pressure on the NHS, but could be resulting in more deaths

Prove to me healthy people are dying?.....source?

A virus dies quickly once away from its host. It's a by product of a cell being poisoned. Exposure to a pathogen causes a virus. It could be a vaccine ( retrovirus) pollution,EMF radiation,many causes.

It's interesting that in northern Italy a lot of elderly people died who had not long received their annual flu shots and were then exposed to EMF radiation.

As for conspiracy theories, I wear my tin foil hat with pride,it's more comfortable than a blindfold.

The trouble with conspiracy theories is, with enough mental gymnastics, you can create one from absolutely anything.
"Prove me wrong" has no meaning as it's always "That's what they want you to think".
I don't think anyone denies spin and half truths are peddled by unscrupulous people, but once you start thinking everything is a conspiracy theory you might need to check yourself in.
Here's an example for the conspiracy nuts on here, every fish you catch is a conspiracy, you don't even go fishing. Try proving me wrong with your cleverly photoshoped pictures. 😉

That's the thing Rhys! I remember watching 'Beyond the Curve' on Netflix and thought WOW this is deeply worrying as their whole basis for not believing the Earth was a globe was a complete disregard for what the leading figures, authorities and experts said, as they are the conspiracy! The logic proves itself flawed in the documentary whereby one of the flat earthers starts dishing out conspiracy theories about two of it's own leading voices.
All of them lost every single sense of what the truth actually was, and that is dangerous! Mind, you see it happening on social media now!
For me, 'Occams Razor' stands in helping decide.

I fear I could bring you a dying person with no previous medical history and you might suggest it was a BBC paid actor!
The reports are out there! Somewhere between 9-10% have no previously existing medical condition!

I've heard today from a reliable source that healthy people are recovering, but have been left with some sort of brain damage.
That isn't being reported so there's one conspiracy for you!
